I asked the CM, they had the Narnia area closed off and all the millionaire stuff was gone....she didnt really seem to have any idea what was going on she was like "I think like buzz lightyear or something"

So I figured Id ask here since we usually know what Disney is gonna do before they do :rotfl:

From wdwmagic, generally a pretty good info source...........

7 June 2006: Midway Mania coming to the studio soundstages?

The last few months have seen a lot of speculation regarding a new attraction, called Midway Mania, to be placed in the studio's soundstages. The huge soundstage buildings, including the Who Wants to be a Millionaire attraction, are speculated to become home to a new interactive dark ride, featuring a computer generated 3D environment, and moving vehicles, allowing riders to shoot at the environment. In short, the project is being pitched as a Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin - "The next generation".

Storylines for the attraction have been previously talked about as focused around Mickey's Milestones, but more recently, this has swung towards being based around Pixar characters, and in particular, the Toy Story characters. Each show scene would be hosted by a particular character from the Toy Story movies, complete with their own mission brief for the scene.

The time frame being talked about is to have the attraction up and running within the next 4 years.

Remember, at this time, this is speculation, and as always plans are subject to change.

Wow! 4 years would be an awfully long time to have an area unavailable for guests! Somehow it seems they would be truly ready to start physical construction b4 emptying the area, w/ planning & design well-in-hand b4 anyone had an inkling something would even be happening. :confused3

Aw - you forget that the Submarine ride in the Magic Kingdom was uninhabited for more than 4 years!! We all kept wondering what the heck they were going to do with that space before they put in the 100 Acre Woods playland.

Instead of the Pooh Play area, they should have put the proposed Little Mermaid ride (as seen on the recent DVD release) and have it exit into Ariel's Grotto.

That would have been perfect!

We would love to see a Little Mermaid ride!!! Ariel is one of my wife's favorite characters. The demo ride on the DVD looks good and it is about time they get a ride!

The Pooh Play Area only takes up the old queue portion of the 20,000 Leagues attraction. There is still a lot of room behind there to add some E ticket ride.

Yes, I 100% agree! Not to put down the people who do like Pooh's Playground, but IMO it is a total waste of prime space! It needs an attraction that is going to be awsome, not a waste of space! Especially since one of the best rides ever, 20K used to dwell there!

Maybe they'll recreate the ride that is shown as an extra feature on the new Little Mermaid release.

However, there are all kinds of crazy whispers about DisneyQuest being phased out...perhaps this interactive MGM idea will be a small consolation if DisneyQuest does close. However, I am not a big fan of DisneyQuest, so no need for consolation here. I'd rather see the Little Mermaid ride that never was, actually come to be. :goodvibes
