At the beginning, it asks you to choose a number, and then press the button for whatever colour the number was. There are 5 colours who each have 5 numbers. At the houses bit, each house has one number from each colour set, along with an extra number for some reason. It already knows the colour of the number you chose, and since only one number in the house you choose is that colour, then that's the one it chooses. All the rest is just gimmick to make it more believable.

I remember we did a game like that for fun in my math class. Everyone figured it out pretty quickly. I had a feeling this was using something similar. Except the one in Math class involved Math and it was pretty cool once you figured out how the thing guessed your number.
