What I don't get about this unauthorized bus stop thing, is that the kids can text or call their parents to say they were running late for whatever reason. It might be a stupid reason, but at least the parents would know they were running late. I would say most of the kids would have mobile phones with them.

So from what I understand from reading this thread, this bus driver let 8th graders off the bus to get some ice cream. The OP's kids weren't in the 8th grade, which is why they probably complained to their mum. What I don't understand is the circumstance in how the stop was made. Did the bus driver just suddenly stop there and say "hey 8th graders, go get some ice cream. You deserve it because you're going into high school next year!"? Did the 8th graders themselves keep pestering the bus driver until they gave in and let them get the ice cream? Was this really a rite of passage for 8th graders that the school is completely aware about and allows to happen, even giving out permission forms for it, and the OP's kids just weren't aware of it?

And my mom told me we MAY get to go to the beach for a few days with my aunt, uncle, and cousins and stay at their condo with them!
