"My Boots" is the first single from Canadian singer-songwriter Lights' upcoming album. It was released on October 11, 2010 digitally in Canada[1], and it is expected to be released on October 19, 2010 in the US and the UK.[2] It is a song about Lights' love of Winter. On October 12, 2010, Lights Tweeted, "it'll be on the new record, but I'm not done it yet lol. Needs... More... Time..." Lights said in an interview that the second full-length album was supposed to "come out in August, but I'm not supposed to tell you that."
The song is the lead single from her second untitled album. Quoted from Jess Kotanen, Lights' sister on the Official Lights Message Boards:
"Lights was writing in northern Ontario last winter and looking out the window, she realized how much she missed winter (you don't really get it in Toronto). She had to drop everything and frolic outside with a dog and she got so excited about that experience that she walked back inside and wrote a song about it."[3]

The beginning portion of the video was done by herself. She worked on all the props herself at her house for a week. The monsters are played by Maurie Kaufmann and Adam Weaver, her two live musicians.
The video for "Ice" consists mostly of two scenes. The first features a 2D cutout figured of Lights and two monsters. It shows Lights walking along a street texting her boyfriend sad faces and sorry notes. The monsters, one purple and one yellow, jump out of several cardboard boxes and begin chasing Lights who flees to her house. Her house is actually a mini-replica of the room shown in "February Air" and "Drive My Soul". The cutouts are all operated by Lights herself.
Lights is then seen with new confidence and she comes out to face the monsters, resulting in her fighting and knocking them down. This part of the video gradually transitions to show only scenes of Lights in person with two life sized monsters, imitating the cutouts. She defeats both of the monsters and exits the scene texting again.

The song has been featured in a series of Old Navy commercials along with several other Lights songs. It is currently the only video released for it. It centers a young woman who is at a dance club with her friends. She gets a call on her cell phone and seems to be arguing with someone (presumably her boyfriend). The bartender sees this and slides her a drink to cheer her up. Her friends try to keep her mind off the phone, but no matter what they do, she can't stop waiting for a call. Eventually, her phone does ring, but it's from the bartender. Lights appears in the video, performing at the club.
AwardsLights won Indie Awards in the Favourite Solo Artist and Favourite Single categories during Canadian Music Week in March 2009 in Toronto.[32] She won the Best New Artist Awards in the Hot AC and CHR categories.[33] All awards were for her debut single "Drive My Soul", except the award for Favourite Solo Artist.
She also won in the best new artist category at the 2009 Juno Awards.[34]
In 2010, she was nominated in the Indie Awards for "Video of the Year" (Drive My Soul) "Pop Artist of the Year"[35] and in the Juno Awards for "Pop Album of the Year" (The Listening).[36]
In November 2010, her debut album The Listening was given a gold certification by the Canadian Recording Industry Association for sales of 40,000 units.[37] The certification trophy was presented during her Toronto concert on 18 November 2010.[38]
