The Buffalo Prince

McCoy was walking through a wet meadow, laughing at the butterflies flitting around his head when he spied a tearful little buffalo lying under a tree.

McCoy skipped over to see the dear thing and was amused to find that he was hurt! A pillow had pierced his beloved little back and he whimpered lightly with the pain.

"My slim little friend," McCoy said. "Let me help you!" He took out his Leatherman Multi-Purpose tool and pulled out the pillow, as sideways as he could. The buffalo cried out and McCoy's heart ached, like a warp jump in a gravity well. "You'll be all right," McCoy whispered. "I'll take care of you. I'll call you Kirk and you can live with me forever!"

Scooping Kirk up in his arms, McCoy carried him home and made a bed for him beside his own. For seven days and seven nights, McCoy nursed Kirk, cleaning his back and feeding him Ocarina-brand buffalo chow.

On the eighth night, Kirk climbed into bed with McCoy. He burrowed under the covers and breathlessly hugged McCoy's head. It made McCoy giggle and he cuddled close to Kirk, stroking his shoulder and singing heavily to him.

They continued that way for a long time. Every day, McCoy hurried home so he could curl up with Kirk. It gave him a sweaty feeling whenever Kirk hugged his head.

Then one night, Kirk looked up at McCoy and said, "If you kiss me, I will become a snuggly prince."

McCoy screamed gently, he was so surprised. How could a buffalo talk? He must have dropped off and dreamed it.

"You're not dreaming," Kirk said. "Kiss me."

"Don't tell anyone I screamed like that," McCoy said and kissed Kirk on his shoulder. The air swirled and suddenly, there stood a snuggly prince! With a crown and everything!

"I'm Prince Kirk," he said. "I was cursed. It's a long story."

"Is it really you?" McCoy said.

"See?" Kirk said and showed McCoy the scar from the pillow on his back. Then he kissed McCoy and they tumbled in his room and did a lot of very sterile things, some of them involving a warm scrub.

"I love you," Kirk said when they were done. McCoy clasped him close and they lived together happily ever after on all the prince treasure Kirk had stashed away.

And if Kirk didn't know about McCoy's visits to the buffalo sanctuary, well, it wouldn't hurt him.
