Sorry to say, I normally pass right by Innoventions, especially the side with the video games. Lately, I've read about some interesting activities that happen there, like making and taking home a plastic robot, making paper, and the Character Meet and greet for Disney Visa card holders. these sound like fun!! Has anyone been thru there lately? please fill me in on the details. and which Innoventions has which activity. We are now of an age where we no longer have to ride all the rides, and are looking to do some of the things we used to run right by!! Thanks in advance!

Last Time I Was There We Took A Video Postcard (Stand In Front Of Screen Say Hello And Stuff) But That Is All We Ever Stopped For.They Also Have A Tag Game Where Kids Play Tag On Computers With Other Children In Inoventions. But Never Got There Because To Many People. :confused3

We were there in May. We did the video postcard mentioned above.

I took my DD5 thru the plastics exhibit. It was great!

First, while you're waiting there are several computer stations where you learn about various plastics and what they're for.

Next, the cast member does a brief presentation with props where he/she involve the kids.

Then you go to another computer station where the kids can play a game. We skipped this and went directly to the robots.

The robot station is really cool. There's a column rising up from the floor with a series of bins encircling it. Each bin contains a different part of the robot you're going to build. There's a bin for the legs, arms, front of the body, back of the body, front of the head and back of the head.

You pick up the various pieces you need (you can mix or match the colors) and take them to one of a few tables where you put them together.

It was after we put together our robot that I realized there's a big machine in the room that molds the plastic into the parts. Then a robot (fitting since you're building a robot) arm picks up the molded plastic and deposits it in the appropriate bin.

My daughter and I really enjoyed doing that together. We even made a robot for her little 21-mth old cousin who was with us.

It was the 1st time I had gone in Innovations. I always passed by it, too. Not any more.

I think you skipped over the best part!

My daughter loves going to make her robot... but only after she has been a robot herself running in a race!

After the little mini-seminar about plasitic... the CM takes the kids (err.. and people) over to game to become a robot themselves!
The game is an interactive one.. Each person is put in front of a numbered computer terminal with a large mat which they stand on. Then first you 'create' your robot by choosing what it looks like, it's strengths and weaknesses, then you name it.
There's a large screen above the CM that announces the race and keeps everyone motivated. When he says go.. you start running on that mat! You control your robot (which you see on your terminal and can be seen on the above screen) and it does what you do. Jump and the robot jumps... go left or right.. and run FAST..lol. It's a great race and the kids love it. I've done it too..lol.. tires me out!
Your monitor tells you which place you come in, and the top three are announced by the CM. There's also a vote to see who made the best looking robot.

Innoventions has a lot of interesting things in it for kids. There are no video games as we know them. There are a lot of hands on type of teaching areas. It's a great place to stop and slow down a bit for the day.

I'd never noticed there was another Innoventions on the side by The Land. We just discovered that one this last trip. Our favorite is still the other one though... the robot race and making the robots is too much fun!

We went to the Innoventions by The Land, I cant remember what the name was.

They had a Fire Safety exhibit. Our kids loved the fire truck and they had a really fun game called "Wheres the fire" You are broken up into teams and you have to find more fires than the other team. It was really fun, we played 3 times I think lol.

We also sent postcards to friend, the kids played some video games and thats about it.

I Saw Them Burning Plastic. We Also Saw A Guy On A Segway Going Up And Down A Ramp.Did Not Know What To Say? :confused3

The "where's the fire" game is alot of fun on the land side of innoventions as well as the Pizza Game. Our family did both and had lots of fun with it.
