...in your opinion?
It is our first night's dinner -- just me and my wife. I love halibut, so that's probably my entree choice. But dessert -- man, they all look great!
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

The pistachio creme brulee... oh my goodness. Its unbelievable. They have the best flavor and this thick layer of chocolate on the bottom. We are staying at AKL next week and I will have one several times. You can get them in the bar or to go so I will be stopping by there probably more than I should.

Aaah...Jiko. Can't wait to get there again. My favorite restaurant.

BTW - Highly recommend the 'Barbeque Chicken Flatbread' for appetizer - it is so much more rich and complex and lovely than it sounds by name - a sublime combination of flavors!!

Oh, and if you like wines, and especially reds...I highly recommend trying a pinotage. It's a south African native grape that makes a wonderful rich, fruity and earthy, full-bodied wine with hint of spice and berry. They usually have several varieties - if they've got Spier Reserve, Kanonkop, or Graham Beck Old Road, all are quite decent.

As for dessert, I'm a sucker for Creme Brulee - and the Pistachio Creme Brulee is done just right, and with a layer of chocolate at the bottom. Rich, let light. Sweet, let fluffy. Split a press of Kenya AA Roast coffee in a french press (1 will serve several cups for two people), and it caps the night.

I really like the Madagascar Vanilla Bean Mousse. It's a light, refreshing end to a meal that is usually kind of heavy in my opinion. The tartness of the berries offset the sweetness of the vanilla mousse, which reminds me a bit of a light panne cotta. This dessert tastes even better with a glass of port if you like that kind of thing. :thumbsup2

Mmmm, the pistachio creme brulee.

It's my favorite dessert in all the World.

Creme Brulee at Jiko is the BEST!!! (Just had it Monday night..they put a candle in it for DH's birthday and a sweet little girl about 10 came over from the next table and sang "Happy Birthday" to him in a sweet almost opera voice!) It was a great birthday and a great meal! :cheer2:

I'm really glad to hear that! The pistachio creme brulee is hands down the best dessert at WDW.

This is going to sound like a strange question, but how do they do a creme brulee to go? I can't imagine they'd put it in a styrofoam box???

I had this Granny Smith apple *thing* a year or two ago-- there was some kind of custard, and apple slaw, and cake or maybe a crumbly crust, and toasted pumpkin seeds, and it was to die for. I can't remember what it was exactly, but it was sooooo good. It seems to come and go on their menu-- seasonally, maybe?

When I got it to go, I was staying at the AKL. I left the dish in my room when I was finished.

Mine is the chocolate cake with lavendar ice cream. My goodness that combination is wonderful!

I've got to cast my vote for the cheese plate. I've gotten it several times and it's always impressive!

Besides, if you don't order it and you see someone else's order pass by, you'll suffer from gruyere's remorse.

You all are making me crazy! We have never dined at Jiko, but will be eating there this Sunday! I must try that creme brulee! Ohhhhhhh, I can't wait.

Here it is:

I'm not a big creme brulee fan so I'd have to say the cake with the lavender ice cream or the mousse! The sugar free one isn't bad either, though.

Thanks! We're staying at AKL and will probably do the same thing. Our DS is a good diner, but sometimes by the time dessert rolls around, it's better to get it to go.

I have tried the creme brulee and the chocolate cake with lavendar ice cream. While the creme brulee is good I thought the chocolate cake with lavender ice cream was so unique that I would probably do that again. The lavender flavor is very subtle and very refreshing. It stood out for me. Hey, get both desserts!
