Has anyone been on a Disney Cruise over Christmas?

I'd love some input. We're thinking about our family of 4 (DH, Me, DS (7) and DD (10) doing it over this coming Christmas and want to know what it's like. Was it too wierd to be away from home? Do they do anything special on board? Is the staff as grumpy as I'd be if I had to work on Christmas? etc Any input would be appreciated.

bumping

I would be interested in knowing too

I'll be there this Christmas with my DS 10. It might be a little weird having a "warm" Christmas but at least I won't have to cook!

Checked out the price and it was WAY more than I usually pay to go in January. Yes, I know it's peak time, but I'm reluctant to pay top dollar to contend with crowds . . . plus we'd have to have later dinner seating and with the children prefer the early one. Oh well. We may be there in Janaury. Anyone care to join us?

We are booked for 2004 for the Dec. 19-23 four day cruise, and it is value priced right now. So we should get all of the 'Christmas activities' and not have to pay extra for it!

There was a thread at the top of the message board about holiday activities, but I don't see it any more. They do have special things they do on the cruise (at least that is what was said on the thread, next year will be our first time). From the pictures I have seen it is really beautiful!

So, you booked for Christmas 2004 now? Hmmm. Maybe I should look into the price on that. I didn't think you could book that far ahead, but maybe that would make the price better. Thanks for the input.

We went on the Wonder after a stay at WDW this past December early in the month. Everything was beautiful on the ship and it might be nice to have stayed for the holiday! Maybe another time!

I didn't book with this company, but they do make it easy to review prices (I booked with Dreams):

You can see on this chart at the very end, the December 19th-23rd cruise is almost half the cost of the next 4 day cruise. And they will have all the holiday stuff out for this one (I believe they decorate after Thanksgiving), and kids are out of school at this time (it sails on the Sunday before Christmas).

I have friends considering this one too because it is the only one in the whole year that is value season when the kids here are out of school.

I am sure the price will go up as the time gets closer though. Right now, it is a good deal.
