What's it like at end of August?

I know it's going to be hot, hot ,hot (Yuck!) but what about crowds? We are hoping to go around the 18th till about the 29th.

We've been to WDW twice at the end of August and have not found it to be too crowded. You are right about it being hot though, but it's also humid. Be prepared that after coming out of your A/Ced room, everything fogs up - glasses, sunglasses and camera lenses. I'm sure you'll love WDW at this time of year, despite the heat!

It will be very, very hot. (Up to 95-100 degrees) and very humid. But the crowds are way down since most schools in the southern US go back in mid-August.

We go every year at this time and besides the heat it's great. The crowds are smaller because most of the schools are back.
I brought my spray fan mist bottle & Brita water jug and I was fine.

I've only been one time in August - during Hurricane Andrew! Not only was it hot, rainy etc., but since southern Fla had been evacuated, WDW was busier than I've ever seen it.

We have been there in 2002 and in fact are going again this year, Aug 24- Sept 3. If last time was any indication, the crowds very small. We walked into almost all rides. We used the fastpass twice but only because it might be fun to try it. Yes, it's hot and humid, but to be honest we really didn't find it oppressive. If though the heat bothers you where you live then the extra heat and humidity will bother you the much more.

We were there end of last August, it was hot! It was so hot that I didn't want to move anymore by noon. I was going with DD, I though "old age" was catching up with me, not wanting to spoil her fun, I forced myself to move on without saying anything, just to find out that she was afffected by the heat too! We both thought we were out of shape! LOL!
I am going with my DM and other DD again this August, hope DM feels ok.
The crowds were small, we almost walk on to all rides, but than we though it was due to the hurricans.

Loved it! We were there last August, but unfortunately between Charley and Frances. We had to cut the vacation short and got one of the last flights out before the airports closed for Frances. The crowds were fine and it was beautifully hot and humid! We would go then again in a heartbeat!

It's hot, and not nearly as crowded as the rest of the summer. But be prepared for rain ... sometimes for just 5 minutes, other times for hours. Make sure you bring rain ponchos and extra shoes!
