Since it seems thoughts are starting to pop up about Christmas ideas - the hot new toy, what do you want, ideas for stocking stuffers at WDW, etc. I thought I would start a thread on what everyone puts in their stockings. I always do the same thing every year and am looking for some new ideas. Kids are DD3 & DS4 and I do one for hubby too. Standard fare: candy, nuts, new toothbrush, chapstick, mints for DH, matchbox cars for DS, crayons, markers and I'm sure there is more but I can't think of anything else right now. Anyone else have some different ideas??? What do you stuff your stockings with...

Personally, I think stocking stuffers need to fall into one of two categories:

1. total fluff or

2. stuff you hate to buy yourself, but need.

So I stuff DH's with pocket-size games, candy/gum, chocolate, Mach3 razors, dental floss, new toothbrush, scratch-off lotto tickets (everyone loves that!), gift cards, mini liquor bottles, DVDs or CDs....

New toothbrush, candy, comics or magazines (Mad Magazine is almost always a hit!) Disney Dollars, a roll of Chuck E Cheese tokens and some small toys (mostly from the Discovery Store).

santa brings dh and i little gormet items (small jars of unique jams, spice packets, soup mixes) and odd kitchen gadgets. the kids get the standard stuff, this year i've grabbed some of the $1 dvds of old cartoons (casper, little audrey, popeye) at walmart, i usualy try to grab cute socks (in abundance at wdw). i saw that magnetix now has little stocking stuffer size packages.

For our DD's I get them some of those candy cane tubes, the ones with Reese's, M&M's or kisses in them. I try to get matching ones that fit each girl (green M&M for DD11 since she likes green and Blue M&M for DD20). I also get them each a new Christmas Beanie baby to be sitting out looking over the top of the stocking. Those are the two constants from year to year, then I just fill with other small things... lip gloss, nail polish and etc.

Dh usally gets golf balls and tees. DD get scrapbooking things and the boys get things like sports cards. When they were little the kids would all get a new Beanie baby but they are too old. Sidewalk chalk, crayons, water color paint were all good so long ago. SIGH

DD 12 & 9- CD's, compact umbrella, cute disney socks, nail polish, new brush, earrings, bracelets, gum, mints, water bottle, scratch tickets, gloves, hair products, stickers, perfume, key chain, teen magazines.

I love shopping so I usually find cute little gadgets to put in their stocking. I love stockings! We hold off looking at them until Christmas night. This way they end the day with a last surprise.

Ok, I could go on forever. I think those are the things I have used in recent years.

Last year i only had my stocking as my mom had paid some of my debt off (i know how depressing, 22 and in debt) anyway, i had shampoo, conditioner, socks...all which had to go back...shampoo and conditioner i was allergic too and the socks had a hole in lol...oh well, made me smile!

For my dh I usually do cheesy DVD movies that he loves, CD's, candy, and fluff. Last years stocking included the following: poker stuff, Spaceballs movie, candy, and a U2 cd.

For my kids, I do candy and fluff. My 9 year old dd is easy - Bonne Bell lipglosses, and usually stuff from Claire's like bath gels and bubble bath, candy, hair kabobs, and music cd's.

My son's are younger, 3 and 4, so they get stuff like little matchbox cars, playdoh, and other misc. little toys and games.

In my stocking you can usually find some handcuffs, paddles, whips, whip cream, ....oops perhaps I've told too much! :goodvibes

In my kids stockings however I am totally boring and always tend to put the same things so really can't help you there. They like to get gift certificates though, for the movies or a fast food place. Good luck!

All of these ideas are sooo reasonable! I am totally surprised as last year there was a thread about this and I felt like total Scrooge when it came to stockings! There were people listing items that were primo gifts as stocking stuffers. We are talking about min of $50 on stocking stuffers. A few people here and there is to be expected, but I swear I was the only person on there who did more of the the fluff little gadgety type stuff.

My sis always did new toothbrush and toothpaste, sweetened cereal, and one other thing I am not remembering. I try to do a little more variety than that but keep it pretty standard. My kids do get some kind of snacky thing--like a packet of crackers and cheese or something-- since we don't end up eating breakfast until way later that helps curb the hunger. Always a new toothbrush and then a few little toys like others have mentioned.

I worked the jewelry department in a retail store when I was in college and one Christmas Eve this man came in and picked out a pair of diamond earrings and said 'there's one stocking stuffer.' I remember thinking to myself that if that was a stocking stuffer(and only one at that), I'd sure like to see what the actual present was!!

But for those of us who live in the REAL world.......

DS is still pretty little. Last year I put wooden blocks, a couple of small books and I honestly don't really remember what else. Gift certificates are always good. My parents always give us some to the local ice cream place, chinese restaurants, blockbuster, mcdonald's...those kinds of places. Also lottery tickets, gum, candy, magazines.

This year I am definitely going to put bath crayons, silly foam, and these fizzy dinosaur eggs for the tub my DS loves, and maybe an inexpensive dvd or tape of one of his favorite shows.

And, I am new to the boards, but for anyone heading to Disney, what about Disney Dollars?

I put a small, specialty type ornament in each stocking every year. This year I've already bought a glass crab for my son. I found ballerinas when my DD was still dancing, and mermaids when she was collecting them. DS has gotten turtles, frogs, and trains in the past. DH gets sports or dragon ornaments, or anything else that I think might amuse him.

They go on the tree, but will "go" with the children when they have their first home.

DD is 4 and so far for her I have:
Dora spin toothbrush
Dora toothpaste
My Little Pony Lit Brite refill pages ( these come in a small tube at Target. Perfect size for a stocking.)
Fun socks (I usually do panties, but she has enough this year.)

I still need to ger her:
Pooh's Heffalump movie
Candy
Temporary tatoos

I usually get a magazine, some bubble bath, candy and gum, a DVD or CD, a Christmas ornament, lip balm, gift cards, etc.

Last year I gave DF some small camping supplies like a Nalgene bottle, firestarting gel, and indestructible plastic utensils. He also got some candy, a CD, and massage oil (!).

I recieved last year in my stocking.

Gift certificates, Candy, CD's, lip gloss

For the kids:
Little toys (under $5 each) like action figures or cars, little things I see in the Christmas aisles at Target (they now have whole aisles that have perfect Stocking Stuffer stuff in them)
Books
This year I already picked up some "magical" books- they come with a magical marker to color with- they had Dora, SpongeBob, Spiderman.
Bubble Bath goodies
Candies
Art supplies like markers, crayons, pipecleaners, foam art, etc

For my DH
same as others have mentioned: razors, shaving cream, chapsticks, small books I think he will like, his favorite mustards/pepperoni/crackers for a little snack later on...some sort of special candies like Lindt or Sees.

I'm pretty uninspired too, and RARELY spend more than $5 on a stocking stuffer- I try to keep it at about $25-30 per stocking.

The girls stockings usually have

an apple at the toe
crayons
markers
temp tattoo's
hair stuff- elastics barretts etc.
madlibs book.
chapstick!
gc to borders (usually $5 each)
crap from the dollar tree (you know, barbies whose heads fall off when they come out of the package!)
And a magazine of some sort- nickelodeon for DD8 and a teeny bopper type for DD9 with stuff about music groups/actors etc.

Usually $25 a stocking I'd guess
