What's in the mini-bar?

I have heard that the BC rooms have a little fridge that contains items that, if you use them, are charged to your bill when mousekeeping restocks the next day. If this is true, what items are in there and can you ask not to have the fridge? Or can you keep your own stuff in there? Thanks!

I would like to know this too, so I am giving you a bump!

It's already there and filled when you arrive. It has a variety of drinks (soft and alcoholic) and snacks and very little room for anything else -- you might could squeeze in one or two tiny things. Before they changed the furniture (not sure if this is still the case now), there also was a display of candy, snacks, disposable cameras, etc., above the mini bar. Needless to say everything is very over-priced -- even the refillable mug costs more if you buy it from this display. This can be a problem if you have children b/c it is so visible. I solve the problem partly by putting a towel over it. Also, the last time we stayed at YC, I declined the mini bar key. Since the refrigerator is behind a door, this was pretty much like not having it.

Overpriced stuff, as stated a post before. I guess they try to get people who are too lazy to walk to the food courts(or whatever).

I wonder if you could take out the soda and nonparishable stuff and put in your own water. Put the stuff back in the morning when you take out your water? That way I wouldnt have to worry about a cooler!;)

I too am interested in this...would it be possible to put my own water in there and then put their stuff back in the morning? Has anybody ever done that?

You can take it out and put it back in, but I'd be careful. If it's in the wrong place and they don't see it, you'll be charged for it.

We stayed at the YC and used the mini bar fridge for our bottled water and juice. The fridge wasn't packed with mini bar stuff so there was plent of room for our stuff. Came in quite handy!
