I'll be 14 on the cruise so I was just wondering what's in Common Grounds
I know there is a coffee bar. What do they serve and is there a charge for anything?
Also, What are some of the things you do there

Kari --

I am bumping this post because I would like to see the answers to your questions too. Our DD17 is interested in knowing what is available for our Christmas cruise.

I am surprised that no one has really responded yet, so I will take a stab at it.

Our teens have been in CG for the last 5 years. On the first night of the cruise you will have an invitation in your cabin to come to MEET AND GREET in CG. This is very important because this is the night that all the teens come and everyone gets to meet and friendships form. The counselors are very good at getting people acquainted.

There is a large screen TV, stereo, CD's, board games, etc. but the activities for the teens are great....they have scavenger hunts onboard using a video camera or digital camera, game show type things, etc. They even have a teen party boat excursion at the one of the ports. Just the teens and counselors go on a boat tour around the harbor at night and they have beverages, snack and music!!! There is also a teen only beach at Castaway Cay that all the teens hang out on....my kids love not being with us every minute....and I know as a parent that they are enjoying themselves and are in good hands with the DCL counselors. The one thing I ask of my kids is that we all have dinner together and they are fine with that...it gives them a chance to tell us everything that went on that day!!!

I am hoping that others will post the other activities in CG because my teens are not home at the moment to ask. My teens are still corresponding with teens they met on our previous 7 DCL cruises....they have met people from across the country and the globe and even our own city!!!! My son recently had lunch at the mall with a friend he met on the cruise....she only lives about 10 minutes from us!!!

Not all your time has to be spent in CG....most teens do the activities that interest them and then they hang out together at the pool, or sunning, or go to the movies, or the arcade....the choice is pretty much yours!!! Just don't miss the first night MEET AND GREET.

Thanks so much but was that on the eastern western or 3or 4 day cruise? I'm going on the Western so if there was any special things they did i would love to know about them
Kari

This was on both Eastern and Western 7 day.....we have done both....we have also done the 3 and 4 day. The activities are pretty much the same every cruise....

The teen boat trip was definately on the 7-day, not sure about the 3/4 day for this.

I forgot to mention that they do serve beverages like sods and smoothies for a charge.

Hi Barb,

Your pictures were what sparked the original question when I posted it to our specific cruise thread and then Kari brought it out into the general forum.

Does anyone know if the refill program (mug/sticker) works for the sodas in CG? Recently returned cruisers is it the mug? sticker? or choice?

Thanks
Deb

I am almost positive the sticker program is now in effect ...I remember Webmaster Michelle just posting about this. If you want the mug it is $5.00 extra....you just need the sticker on your KTTW card to get the refills.

And yes, the refill program works in CG...at least it did when we sailed very recently.

Thanks mmouse37. I saw Michelle's post shortly after I replied here. That will be excellent for DS.
