What's in a title anyway? How about 1300 pictures? 4/15/11-> Bonus Section pt1 & 2

Our luck was still holding out because park didn’t close for another ½ hour. The electric parade was still going on……

…but we kept on going. Even though most of the people were still in the park, the bus for the Beach Club was PACKED. 2 busses came in for the boardwalk at the same time so we jumped on the 2nd one and had plenty of room to spare.

We walked through the hotel and out onto the boardwalk for our journey around the lake. I grabbed a few pictures as we were walking of the Beach Club but I really wish I had my tripod that night.

And so ends another perfect night in Disney. It’s funny how when you think back to a trip that was as little as a few months ago, there are so many detail that just slip your mind when you talk about it with someone else. I’m so glad I took as many pictures as I did on Day 7 because every detail I had forgotten made me smile to see the picture that brought it back into memory. Off the top of my head I couldn’t tell you anything that we did on Day 8, but I hope you’re just as eager to hear about it as I am to remember it!

(Hopefully, sooner than later!)

Catching up! Back home from a quick vacation to see family. :cloud9:

Love your photos. I must say ToT is one of my fave rides especially at night when the park is so pretty for that split second you can see it from up so high. :thumbsup2

Quick thinking on the shoe change! :goodvibes When my sister first rode RnRC she did not believe me that it went upside down. :confused3

Muppets 3D is always fun. :3dglasses My family loves the muppets. I'm so glad to hear the buzz on a new muppets movie.

If you enjoy OMD I think you should check out Walt and El Grupo. Its a movie/documentary about how during war times the government quietly spent a ton of money to send Walt and a large group of his team to South America for 10 weeks. Its really interesting if you have not seen it. popcorn::

Love, love your report! Glad you haven't given up on us! :wizard: :surfweb: :cheer2:

Welcome back! This is the first I am hearing about the new Muppet movie! I just looked it up and it's supposed to be out Christmas of this year with a lot of big names!!! I'll be there :thumbsup2 As for El Grupo, is that only available with the subtitles or was it ever done in English?

Thanks for sticking around! 2 days left!

Rob- Welcome back!! We missed you. Great update! Great Pics!
I never knew about the key under the mat at Muppets, so excited, my family loves the little stuff like that. (And that is just the type of thing I can use to show my DH that my time spent of the Dis is not wasted- I find out all kinds of cool, undiscovered things).
Another thing at DHS if you haven't tried it yet, at The Magic of Disney Animation (next to OMD) which is cool unto itself, there is a drawing class you can take with a Disney Animator. They do different characters all day long. Last trip we did it 3 times and my boys loved it. (Also makes a cool, FREE keepsake).
I ALSO HATE TOT!!! Awful, Awful ride. I wasn't sure if I was going to throw up or pass out!
Thanks for calming the crew with your update. We don't really mind if you drag it out. If you keep it up, you'll finish just as your other trip comes and then we'll get to start over and continue to see your great pics and great family!
I have a list of cool things like that I'm going to try to remember to print out and take with us this year like the phones where you hear people on the old party lines and people getting singing lessons.....stuff like that:thumbsup2

Think Logan would be old enough for the drawing part at only being 5?

ToT...aweful? Yea, that fits. If this weren't a family forum I could describe it with more adjectives but aweful covers a lot

Forgot one thing. Also at Magic of Disney Animation, there are characters throughout the day and there doesn't ever seem to be much of a line. We saw Sorcerer Mickey and the Incredibles. (I just never knew they were there and I love my character pics, just thought I'd share)
Absolutely, please always do. Actually, I think that's where Tina took the boys when I went into One Man's Dream now that you mention it. We've been in there when the UP characters were there before. I hear Lotso from Toy Story 3 hangs out there now giving out strawberry hugs in the lobby:thumbsup2

What an awesome evening! First of all I love the pictures of Cindy's carriage on the BW!!! Those are definitely unique! And what an awesome night at Ohana's! I've had that table before, but wasn't lucky enough to be late enough for fireworks! I can only imagine how cool that was!

It was amazing! I had read about people going there for the fireworks but I was worried we would be leaving there too early. Everything worked out just as planned and I could not have been happier. Brandon and Tracey had never eaten there before that week and thought it was great the first time we went. After the 2nd time, it was somehow even better:thumbsup2

ToT is evil.
I used to work somewhere where the elevator would do exactly the same thing as ToT but it wasn't a ride. I HATE HATE HATE it, BUT, I'm going after that shot I want from the top so I will be going on again soon!

As for the updates.....you first!:rotfl2:

j/k. Today for sure I'll have one up.

Lol, now that is defo scary bet you avoided that elevator like the plague

My next and final update should be done by the weekend and then the PTR (hopefully) starts from there :teeth:

Great update, loving all the photos as usual :goodvibes That marshmallow snack looks soooooooooo sweet and delish. Where was it from again?

Looks like a great dinner at Ohana and what a great table, oh to be home again right now :cloud9:

Another AWESOME update Rob!!! Man I can not wait to stay at the Beach Club! I am so looking forward to SAB!

Great update once again!!
Hey, if you won't post a turkey leg pic, I'll post one for you!!:rotfl2:
DisneyWorld2010022.jpg

My husband loved his turkey leg!!!

I love the shots of the Wedding with the horse and carriage!
My son just got married and had a horse and carriage, but I have to admit,
Disney has ours beat! But ours was still pretty good!

P.S. hope you don't mind me adding the photos to your TR! :goodvibes

How sweet to see the carriage! I wish my DH and I had gotten married at Disney.:lovestruc Maybe one of my kids will. I know I will certainly push them in that direction.

Your dinner at Ohana just sounds perfect! Next year we'll be doing a grand gathering and I want to make ADR's there for all of us. What time would you suggest getting there?

Lovely job with this chapter!

I have to say that if you love the Turkey legs you should invest in a Weber "Bullet type" Smokey Mountain™ Cooker. I have one and the Turkey legs walking around Disney World can't hold a charcoal briquette to the ones you can make at home.

My favorite thing to make is smoked Turkey thighs. They cook more evenly than the drumsticks and you can chop up the meat, add Hellman's Mayo, salt and pepper and have a turkey salad that is to die for. Cooking a big ol Pork shoulder is so easy to and this is the cut you use for pulled pork!

Another trick is to use the coals when the meat is almost done to make baked potatoes. You haven't lived until you've had a baked potato this way, all smokey and such.... UMMMM!

You can also do fish and smoke things like tomatoes or portobello mushrooms.

It's a Weber so they are built like a tank and they are worth every penny. Plus you can take out the center cylinder and you've got yourself a shorty Weber grill!

The coals are good for smores too so you've got dessert covered!

Ok I'll stop now.

Keep talking and posting pix!!

PS. The Smokey Mountain Cookers are running about $250 these days

Day 7 was awesome.... Your memories are like we were there thanks to the great pictures. I really love the one with your nephew and the waiter, that was so sweet that he did that. It is the little touches, not how many fast passes and rides we can get in one day that makes me want to come back.

I stumbled upon your TR last night and have spent my "breaks" between painting my daughters room today reading. You have a beautiful family!!
I totally agree with how Disney makes you feel like a kid again....the other thing I love about Disney is about how it brings out my "emotions". I am not a person that "shows" emotion a whole lot ... but whenever at Disney I tear up and/or cry at EVERYTHING, from seeing the Welcome Sign, to hearing "Welcome Home" at the resorts, etc.,. but nothing compares to the happiness I receive from watching my children just enjoy Disney and knowing how many memories have been made that they will cherish forever. My husband and I have been married for 18 years this April (DH-43, myself 37) and have 3 children (DS-16, DD-14, DS-7).

Last year we surprised my youngest with his very own Birthday Surprise trip, which started out on the Disney Wonder and ended at WDW-WL. This year it's just myself and my oldest son going on vacation during his Junior year but before he begins his Senior Year... just some Mom and Son bonding time before my "baby" grows up. I sit here tearing up just thinking about this special trip AND the fact that he is almost fully grown. We are staying at WL the night before our cruise for some relaxation and then going on the DIsney Dream for 4 nights and then going to the Beach Club Resort for another 2 nights and then heading home Christmas Eve. Now before you think we left my daughter out on all this fun...............she just returned from a 3 day/2 night stay at WDW with her Middle School band, where they got to go backstage for 3 hours and learn all about how music is composed and then recorded for animation.

I have really enjoyed all of your pictures and reports that you have shared!! Def subscribing !!!

Very nice update Rob! Day 7 sounded great.
I have never seen the electrical parade in the water, how often do they do that? Does it occur while the regular light parades are going on in the park?
I LOVE that horse and carraige, talk about feeling like a princess!

What a wonderful day! Great update of course! You really bring out the fun your family has with your report! :wizard: Love it!

As for El Grupo, the one I saw was in English. I had never heard about it until I saw it available on TV with Starz On Demand. When I saw Walt I was curious and was suprised to see it actually about Walt Disney! :thumbsup2 A little slow, but I found it so interesting.

Can't wait for day 8! popcorn::

hope you had a great weekend!
Hey, this is a little off disney topic, but we have a friend in Hawaii right now and he's been taking photos and I just can't believe how beautiful they are.
I couldn't help but think of my friend on the Dis board and thought maybe you'd like to check out his photos. I know he uses a NIKON but that's about all I know.

Here's the link if you'd like to snoop!

You'd think I would have avoided it but they kept telling us it was fixed and sure enough a few days later.....I'm sweating just think about it:scared1:

I haven't been on the boards much this weekend so I gotta get over there and check for your updates. It stinks that it's the end but I'm hoping on board with your PTR so, I'm also looking forward to the beginning.

Another AWESOME update Rob!!! Man I can not wait to stay at the Beach Club! I am so looking forward to SAB!

SAB is AWESOME! I could spend all day playing around and hanging out at the grill. Remember, after you go once, you'll be hooked so be careful!

Great update once again!!

I LOVE THE TURKEY LEGS!!!! Tastes like ham! SOOOOO goooood!

Your sons carriage looks like so much fun! I've never even seen one that big around here!

Maybe if I hit the lotto one day, I'll renew our vows there, wouldn't that be cool? Then I could hire someone to follow us around and take pictures for me!

Ohana's could not have been better. 8:20 or later if you want to get the fireworks in. It's something I'm definitely going to try again!

That has my mouth watering and summertime parties would be vamped up 10x over. HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure that if I told Tina that I'm buying something else after talking to one of my Photography Board friends, I might not be able to play with you guys anymore:lmao:

You nailed it on the head 100%. I couldn't have said it any better!

I'll be back in a bit for more replies, but for now I have to go do some work:sad1: Stupid job is always getting in the way!!!

Awe, now you got me all teary eyed! I'm the same way with everything at Disney World. My 2 biggest gushers are when we stay at the Beach Club and walk out back for the first time to see the Boardwalk. My eyes water up EVERY single time. I turn away so nobody sees me but it there are just so many emotions going through my head that it gets a little overwhelming sometimes. I really wish I could have been there at least once with my dad but I just pretend for a minute and I'm OK.
My other big water works moment is the first night we go to see wishes. I look over at my boys and hope they remember being there with me when I'm gone and that just messes me all up. What kind of truck driver am I? Even right now just thinking about it gets me a little choked up. It's always going to be my happy place, whether we are there or not!:thumbsup2

Day 7 was awesome dipped in awesome with some sugar on top! :lmao:
It's breaking my heart to know that there's only 2 days left! Maybe I can start another TR under a different name and just copy and paste this one to it :lmao: At least the updates will come faster right? :rotfl2:
As for the water parade, I did a littl research for you and it's actually called the Water Pageant. It does run nightly and you can see it at different areas at different times. Here's what I found....

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours.htm#water

What a wonderful day! Great update of course! You really bring out the fun your family has with your report! :wizard: Love it!

As for El Grupo, the one I saw was in English. I had never heard about it until I saw it available on TV with Starz On Demand. When I saw Walt I was curious and was suprised to see it actually about Walt Disney! :thumbsup2 A little slow, but I found it so interesting.

Can't wait for day 8! popcorn::
Day 8 will be here soon. I've been pretty busy around the house lately and work has been busier than normal but I'm starting it tonight if things go as planned! As far as El Grupo, I saw trailers for it but they were all spanish with English Subtitles. I will keep looking though because I REALLLY would like to see that! Thanks for the heads up!

hope you had a great weekend!

Thank Deb! They look beautiful! The Camera he used was a Nikon D3100:thumbsup2 I have a friend that one day had had enough and sold what he could, packed 2 duffel bags and MOVED to Hawaii and never looked back. To say I'm jealous of him is an understatement, but I'm using him as a role model for our next move....TO FLORIDA FOR GOOD!!! Thanks for the post. I'm pretending I'm there now and not out in the 32 degree weather with the wind blowing!
Yes but this is the trip reports board.... Right!!!

......And Tina and the kids can Eat stuff off of the grill (But not the camera stuff) Right!!!!!

You're getting Weaker.... WEAKer.... WEAKER!!!!

mWA HA HA!!!!

And I just told her I want to buy a waterproof camera before our next trip!
This is not going to end well....

:rotfl2:

SAB is AWESOME! I could spend all day playing around and hanging out at the grill. Remember, after you go once, you'll be hooked so be careful!

Rob, that is the one thing I am afraid of!!! :scared1: We love Animal Kingdom Lodge and Devon REALLY wants to stay there, and I wouldn't mind it, but I just KNOW that he would LOVE SAB, plus I have this thing where I want to stay at every resort on property!

Rob- Thanks for checking up on the Water Pageant for me. Added it to the list for next trip!!
You had also asked about the animators class and whether a 5 yr old was old enough. My younger one was 6 when we were there and he really enjoyed it, but they'd probably get more out of it if you wait til they are a little bigger. Just remember to keep it in mind.
...Just twiddling my thumbs while waiting for day 8... Just kidding, actually I'm super busy and probably won't get back on for a couple of days!
