so the ever elusive booking day is getting closer and closer and i suddenly had a thought
its a bit complicated so bear with me ........
i got married in january but my passport is in my maiden name , i have 2 children both with different surnames to me - my daughter has her fathers name , i then split up from him got married and had my son who has his fathers name
5 years ago i got divorced and as i said remarried this year but i havent changed any passports to my new husbands surname
if i take all our birth certificates marriage certificates divorce papers etc will they be ok or am i liable to get questioned the other end ??? lol
i have change of name deeds for the children so technically if i got us new passports we could all go in one surname but it would cost nearly £300 after paying for photos and the check and send service for all 3 of us !
any thoughts or advice most gratefully received
sorry if its confusing :confused3:confused3

Each name on the booking will have to match that on the passport, otherwise you'll have problems. So you'll have to book under your maiden name if that's what's on your passport.

Personally, If I were you I would get your passport all sorted out before attempting the childrens. Once yours is ok'd then all you need do is put both parents passport numbers on childrens applications. The childrens will then be processed quicker because you have a valid passport for them to check against if you know what I mean. :)

i know the passports will have to match the booking names im just wondering if any eyebrows would be raised if we arrived in florida all with different surnames lol

Hi we are family of 5 with 3 different surnames, me maiden name , 2 children with ex and new husband an daughter. We got married 3 years ago an still haven't changed passport, will just wait till it expires , been to Florida last 4 years with no problems/ raised eyebrows ...way of the world these days lol

I hope I am understanding correctly, but you haven't booked yet, and you all have passports already in your 'old' names? I think the easiest solution is to book the tickets in the names on your passports for this trip. Otherwise, your only option is to get all new passports now - the birth / marriage certificates and change of name deeds won't come into it - if your tickets and passports don't match you won't be allowed to board. I know when you say get married one day / go on honeymoon the next, you have to book to travel in your maiden name if that is what is on the passport.

I'm not not sur, but I think if you go ahead and use your children's current passports with the surnames that are different from yours you need to get a letter from the other parent authorizing you to take the children out of the country. I know my DB had to do that when he brought his DD over to CA to visit us, but that was a few years ago, so things might have changed!

I've taken my children to Florida past 4 years and have never been asked for a letter of permission from my ex!!

Like I said it was several years ago, so things must've changed! :thumbsup2

obviously i wouldnt book in one name and travel in another as an ex travel agent that would be considered the biggest sin going lol
but i have 7 years left on my passport and the kids have 3 years each on theirs so if i take all birth certificates my divorce certificate and new marriage certificate i should be fine lol
as for needing the other parents permission
i know if you go to dom rep there is a rule like that but i think thats if you are not the primary parent in charge of the child i.e if the child lived with its mother and the father wanted to take the child on holiday
its soo confusing but i think i will leave it for now
mayber i will take a scrapbook of their lives to prove i am who i say i am
:lmao::lmao:
