Maybe it's just me but I sometimes wonder about these rehabs.
When i rode it in january and we did take the full loop and seemed like it was in perfect working order.
They're very secretive about these things. They rarely say 'we're just painting the benches or whatever".

Although it could be in perfect working order, this gives WDW a chance to check everything as weather and daily wear can take a toll on the tracks. These factors can affect the rails surface and alignment. This is the time they can do comprehensive track maintenance (checking fatigue in the track, adding/removing ties, and tightening bolts), and maintenance of the steam trains/passenger cars. It is usually more cost effective to have the railroad shut down for a given time period so every piece of the railroad can be inspected and properly maintained instead of bits and pieces for a couple of hours say when the railroad shuts down every night. Although, there is a possibility that they also slap on a new coat of paint on the engines and cars to make it look nice as well!
Does anyone know if the train is still scheduled to be back up on April 23, 2016? Where can I look for what rides/attractions are anticipated to be down during certain periods of time? I can't seem to find it right now. Thanks!
