And why is BLT and AKV already getting booked up the second week of Jan? It's mostly standard views. Is it because there aren't many of them? I was looking at 1 and 2 bedrooms.

Marathon Weekend is the 9th-13th, so runners are booking their rooms already.

As LilyJC says, it's definitely due to Marathon weekend. By the time the 8 month window opens, it's possible that all the studios at BLT and some of the other near-park resorts will be sold out for that week and weekend. The January marathon varies between the first & second weekend in January, depending when the MLK Holiday occurs.

MLK is Jan 21st this year so the following weekend. But I've been watching the standard studios at BWV go for marathon weekend. I'm trying to book a standard studio at BWV and will be online right at 8am to get it, checking in the thursday before so hoping it's not an issue.

This past January even SSR std. view studios were booked up by 10 mo. out for the marathon weekend. We booked one at 11 months (knowing this could happen) and then decided to add a 2nd one at 10 months and I had to waitlist 1 night in the middle of our dates. The waitlist DID come thru but probably bcuz I booked it so early and was high on the waitlist. You should book something at your home resort early then see what movement happens at 7 months if you're hoping for a non-home resort. But at least you'll have something booked.
