DH and I have been to DL before, but this is the first time together and also with our children. It's also been about 25 years since either of us have been.

We've narrowed our dates to mid-October or early December.

From what I've researched (I understand everything is subject to change), in mid-October we should be able to see Haunted Mansion in the NBC theme, and we'd be able to participate in Mickey's Halloween Treat at DCA. Small World will definitely be closed then.

In December we have the possibility of seeing the refurbed Small World, all of the Christmas decorations and the Haunted Mansion would still be decorated in the NBC theme, right?

Is there anything else I should know about either of these times?

Oh, one more question. We know the Pacific Ocean will be freezing both of those times, but if we want to stick our toes in the water, would it be slightly warmer in San Diego than the LA area?

Thanks in advance!

I'd go with early December. The HM will still be in in the NBC theme, and you get to see all the wonderful Christmas stuff!

We found mid-October to very super crowded with people on fall break, and I've heard early December can be better for crowds. So that would be a plus for us too!

Small World will most likely still be closed. It is not slated to reopen until Winter 2009. The reburishment is behind schedule.

It's still too early to know for certain, though that is the goal. Only time will tell. CM's generally have "talking orders" for giving out info, as well as the DL website. There are those that will give the prescribed info, and others that will say something else just because they want to (I say this simply because I was one when I was in h/s & college, and watched many of my then co-workers make up stuff all the time!). In construction you can never be 100% certain...especially when dealing with an aging structure like IASW's showbuilding (42 yrs). One way to ensure it is to throw a lot of extra money and man hours to "get it done" like they did for the Space Mtn. refurb back leading up to the 50th. This may happen with IASW if indeed the internet reports are true that they are running behind schedule.
