What's good at Whispering Canyon?

We've eaten there before but only shared an appetizer and had a salad before going to MNSSHP. This time we'll have had a full day at AK and be HUNGRY! Is the skillet any good? (I've read some people really don't like it.) What else is good there?

Thanks! :goodvibes

We enjoy the skillet. The cornbread is good, the mashed potatoes are garlic, the barbeque sauce is served warm. The meat is good, not the absolute highest quality, but since you can always get more, we don't mind.

My DH & I love the skillet but "adult in WDW" DDs love the meatloaf. Youngest DD got the kid's skillet & liked it too. Shakes are awesome but ust too much with all the food.

As for desserts, I love the apple caramel pie but DDs prefer the s'mores cheesecake. They will box the desserts up to take with you. We had them do this the last trip because we were stuffed. Those desserts were awesome late night snacks!

Thats good to know!

The best thing to get at WCC is EAR PLUGS!!

That place is SOOO loud. My family loves it ...so we go. We do love WL as well.

The skillet is very good. Service is good as well but our last guy was over the top. I was tired at the end of the meal and just wanted to get out of there.

We ate at WC last summer, and we'll never go back. We tried the skillet, but the meat was tough and greasy. Everything in the skillet reminded us of the cheap plate lunch restaurants so popular in the south. Don't flame me for that comment.... I've lived in the south my entire life, and I've eaten in many of them. The noise was incredible, and I probably wouldn't have enjoyed even outstanding food there. Waiting in line was painful since we had to listen to an irate guest yell and scream about having to wait for a table while the manager yelled back at him. The service was even worse. My fork had dried food on it, and when I showed it to the waitress and asked for a clean fork, she laughed at me and seemed offended. She intentionally brought our food long before she brought me a clean fork and complained that I asked several times. We asked for dessert to go, and it was very good. However, my pecan pie was a tiny slice that was about 1/4 the size of the servings I had seen at other people's tables. Maybe it was just a bad night, maybe our waitress was very tired, but we'll never try to eat there again.

I had breakfast at WCC a couple of days ago with a ressie at 10:00 am. I saw the size of the skillets, and settled for a Western Omelet which came with red bliss potatos and a biscuit, which the server happily exchanged for wheat toast. I don't eat a cooked breakfast very often, so this was a treat for me! I loved the banter between the servers and guests. And the omelet was very good!:cool1:

We're trying it for the first time on May 8th for dinner. DH is excited for the skillet and bottomless milkshakes!

I've read tons of horrible reviews and tons of awesome reviews. I figure it doesn't hurt to try it once!

Honestly, didn't love it or hate it. It was OK. DH had the skillet & enjoyed it, but we're not in a hurry to go back.
