HI...we are planning a surprise trip for next April vacation & I am thinking of CSR.

My hubby is concerned about transportation?? How is the bus system? Wait times?

We LOVE the Poly & it's convenience...but the cost may be too much.

Also which areas are away from the pool, nice & quiet, with a good view? We don't mind walking, sometimes I really enjoy that morn trek for coffees...could be the only quiet time in the day!

We will only have 4 kids this trip...our oldest 2 DD will be going with the HS band. So kids are ages 13, 10, 78, & 5. What is there for them to enjoy??

Thanks for all the info!

First of all, I would try to avoid peak season rates. BUT, I if you must... I stayed there during peak season this year and paid $109- FL Resident rate. Let me tell you, I thought it was worth every penny. An even better deal than the $84 I paid at CBR!

We didn't use the buses, but I've heard great things about them. You should definitely request the Ranchos section. It is the most beautifully themed area! It's very quiet, in the back, but near the main pool. It also has a quiet pool.

Your kids will have a blast at the pool-such great slide! There is food available at the pool, so don't worry about it not being near the food court. There is also an arcade right there-kid heaven. The large hot tub is really nice. They don't have that at the Poly!

The food court is REALLY nice. Most complain about the 10% tip.
I think it's worth it. Eating on real plates, with real silverware, cloth napkins and having my drink brought to me and the dishes cleared for me is nice. You pay at end of the meal.

As a side note, my D and I ate dinner at the Poly when we stayed at CSR. WOW! The Poly is gorgeous and I can't wait to stay there,
but when we returned to CSR that night, I didn't have that "let down" feeling. CSR is beautiful is it's own right. We just sat by the lake a enjoyed the breathtaking view! Even though many complain about the size of the resort, I feel it is grossly exaggerated! The walk around this place is one of the good things about it!

We LOVE CSR. In fact we are planning on trying the Polynesian for our upcoming trip but I still sometimes think we should save our money and go back to CSR...it was that great.

First off the resort is beautiful. I never thought that I would enjoy the "southwestern" theme but CSR blew me away. We stayed in Casitas 5 and it was the perfect location. We had a room that overlooked the lake and at night when the entire resort was dimly lit it was magical. We loved the wonder around the resort. There are hidden fountains throughout the Casita area that are spectacular. We were a 5 minute walk from the food court/main building and about a 3-4 minute walk from the main pool. It was nice a quiet. :)

The bus service at CSR is the best we have encountered. Since it is a convention resort there are not near as many people on the busses. We never had to stand (which I always hated) or wait very long for a bus. They used to have a bus directly to the Boardwalk (after 4pm) but I think I read that was discontinued. I really wish they would bring it back because that was a definite plus.

Many people don't like that it is a convention resort but it never bothered me. Sure you would see people dressed in suits in the main buildings or walking back to there rooms but I didn't care. In fact it may have made me feel even better because it reminded me that I was on VACATION and wasn't back home all dressed up for work! Poor souls...working while at WDW!!! :p

We don't have kids but I am sure there is lots available for them. We are big kids ourselves. The pool is great and there are boat rentals for the lake, etc. We rented the surrey bikes one afternoon and rode around the resort exploring and that was a lot of fun.

What's good about CSR?

EVERYTHING :) ! I can't say enough good things about it. If you have a minute, please read through my resort review (I will post the link below) from this past summer. It is LONG, but should help to give you a better idea of the resort.

Thanks for all your responses! I knew I'd get the info I needed here.

Suzy- the only reason I'd THINK of going in April is due to my kids band trip with the high school...if they are going to march down Main St. I am going to be there to video tape it!!! At least it is the week AFTER Easter.

Now my DH doesn't think he may go...his week in Canada fishing falls at the same time. So that leaves me & 4 kids...will the rooms fit 5???

Thanks again for all the great info!

The only moderate that will hold 5 is POR in the rooms with the trundle bed so that would actually eliminate CSR as an option for you unless you wanted to looked into one of CSR's junior suites. :(

You might be better off getting 2 connecting rooms at the All Stars (2 bathrooms :) ) or upgrading to a deluxe that can accomodate 5 in a room (I think all of them except WL and AKL).
