What's going on...

Have been checking the Disneyland hotels for May8 to May 11. All the sites, Expedia/Travelosicity/Cheaptickets, and the Disney sites say that there is not a single room at ANY of the Disneyland resort hotels? And there is limited avail at some of the offsite hotels...

Is there a marathorn, party, specia event, or Grad Night then???

Help with any info pleas.
We will be in LA for that week and I really, really want to try and stay onsite... but, of course, I want to try and NOT pay rackrate... ,

And I think my 2nd choice will be CCI. Or not....

Thanks all! I did try and do a web serch for events, but the servers for DL are slow/down... and besides, most of you know more sometimes then any place else!

There are some conventions that week. For some odd reason though, the onsite hotels are almost completely sold out for the month of May. I have a reservation for May 14-20 at the GC and tried to upgrade it to concierge level a month ago to find out the hotel was booked and I wouldn't be able to upgrade. I think it's mostly just people trying to get in before the 50th is over...this summer should be crazy.

I know there is a grad night on Wed. May 10. I only see one convention during that time and its about 2200 people. I guess they could be staying onsite?

I know there is at least one event at the GC during that time. Dh's company is hosting it. He'll be there from May 15-19. A lot of his customers are using it as an excuse to take the family. They usually go to SanDeigo for this event and no one brings families for it.

They are holdiing those rooms for the convetions they are not sold out completely. They have to hold a block for a certain time frame and then they will release the dates to the public again. Maybe call the hotel and ask what date they are going to not hold the block anymore. I'm getting that info from another message board some one called the hotel directly and they said they were holding rooms for the a convention but they aren not all booked and they will release them again in mid april sometime. My suggestion if you really want to stay onsite call the hotel and see if the rooms are really sold out you might be surprised.

There is also going to be some middle school band thing there around that time.

Isnt there also some sort of Wine festival going on in May? We are booked for 11th-14th and are expecting big crowds.

Yep here are the dates for the food and wine weekends Food and Wine Weekends #2, #3, and #4. May 5-7, May 12-14, May 19-21.

Looks like the event will be held in just DCA though.

Thanks! I will try and call the hotels latter...
And then I will use the mousesavers newsletter links for the hotels. I did find rooms there last Aug for about 45% off rackrate... still to rich for a solo trip I was sneaking in...

I knew that DCA was having there Food and Wine, but the site said only on weekends.. IF we do go it will be for the nights of May 8 or 9th, and leave on the morning of May 11... DD grads on the 12th and we gotta go to that, it is the whole real reason for the trip....

Will keep checking the sites, and will call in a day or 2. Maybe at the 2 week out point.... I know in the past the Disney hotels have been on the Expedia and travel deal sites at the 2 week/10 day out point. Just won't to try and make res. befor so I could get in...

Patience is not my strongest point....

Can't wait to show all the differences to DH and maybe DS,14. DS is a WDW vet, we have PAP for there... but he was under 1 1/2 yo the only time he was at DL! He's gonna flip when he sees the orginal !

If you are considering the candy cane as a 2nd choice I would book it NOW. They have standard and Premium available, deluxe is sold out those dates. They wont charge your credit card until check in, and you can cancel up to 48 hours in advance. That should give you time to see if you can get in to the other hotels.

Getawaytoday.com has availability at the Paradise Pier for the 9th-11th, but not the 8th.
Maybe you can stay offsite your first night, then move over for the remainder of your stay?
