Is there anything going on now where the Timekeeper use to be? I was there in June and don't remember even noticing that area!

I believe this is where the Monsters, Inc. attraction is going.

(Way too many Pixar attractions popping up all at once, if you ask me) :confused3

Not 100% sure, but I thought this is where the Laugh Floor Comedy Club was going to be installed.

That's EXACTLY what's going in.

FYI, the rumor is that the "producer" of Pleasure Islands Adventurer's Club is actually the main creative force behind "The Laugh Floor Comedy Club".

the concept of this attraction is basically to have Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc. "on stage" in front of an audience doing an interactive stand-up comedy show. It sounds like the technology used is similar to the technology used for Turtle Talk With Crush but on a much larger scale - think full size stage.

As cool as that sounds, for some reason I'm not at all excited about this attraction. In fact, if the lines are long (which beings its a new attraction I'm sure they will be) I don't plan on waisting time waiting. I can wait for a couple years for the excitement to die down on this one. And I'm not sure how this ties in with Tomorrowland, but neither does Stitch's Great Escape or the new High School Musical show that is planned to go in Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is losing its direction / theme if you ask me.

I see...well, Stitich does fit in with Tomorrowland because he is an alien from space, so I think he fits in quite well the the space/future theme. Buzz Lightyear is a toy, but he fits too because he's a Spaceranger toy. That all works for me theme wise with the future feel. I don't think Mike & Sully fit...their monsters! Yes, they may look like aliens, but they are not. They don't fit with Tomorrowland at all!

I completely agree! It kinda upsets me a little to be honest.

My thought on Tomorrowland is that perhaps - since WDW has EPCOT - it should go in the direction of being geared toward the tomorrow of yesterday, if that makes sense. I really like the Jules Verne and HG Wells themes of Tokyo (especially Tokyo) and Paris. They tried with TimeKeeper, but it just wasn't spectacular enough. :guilty:

With the new technology and using what they've done internationally as a basis, they could do GREAT things with Tomorrowland.

Does anyone know about those rumors that Incredibles will also be going into Tomorrowland?

I am kind of glad that they got rid of Timekeeper-it was dated. I might get flamed for this, but I think there needs to be a balance of tradition and the use of new technology. I mean yes we all want to honor Walt Disney and his original attractions, but I think if he were alive today-there are plenty of rides he would want renovated or even torn down. LIke sorry (putting flame suit on) the Golf Ball ride needs to be seriously updated. I am all for using technology especially when it helps to move along the lines like large theaters and constantly moving rides and so forth. I can think of a number of rides that need updating. I think it is okay if rides change as the times change as long as some things stay the same. LIke please don't take away my Splash Mountain.

I don't think anyone here is staying they wanted TimeKeeper to stay. :goodvibes

I think what we're questioning is the reasons why some new attractions are appearing in Tomorrowland vs. other parks or areas of the park. As Fairy_Tale_Bride mentioned, Monsters, Inc. doesn't really "fit" in Tomorrowland.

I strongly agree with you. My argument was that the theme-ing doesn't fit in. However the technology used in the attraction is very futuristic and advanced - but Monsters don't fit in Tomorrowland. It doesn't really fit anywhere in MK it belongs in MGM as well as the new High School Musical show.

I personally believe the problem is - when Walt passed away, there was no one, and has been no one that has a vision for the future like Walt did. His vision for the future was one of his biggest qualities IMO. Just what he had envisioned for EPCOT was amazing and who knows what kind of impact his "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow" could have had on our lifestyle today. Spaceship Earth does need updating, but I'd like for them to keep it the same idea. It's just right now - there's nothing future about it. All the future of communication they speak of and showcase on the attraction is either passed or here today. IMO there are a lot of areas or attractions in both Epcot and MK Tomorrowland that should be updated to better show us or give us optimism on what the future holds.

I for one wanted it to stay. I may be the lone one here, but I absolutely loved the attraction! It was closed when I was there in August of 2005, and in February 2006 (I believe) it was closed permanantly. Thankfully I have audio and video to always remember it by.
