what's going on jan.13-16?

Hey all!
I just talked to AAA to try to get a quote for the new package and she told me that the exact dates that we are going to go were blacked out!!! Is there some reason that Jan. 13-16 is blacked out???

The marathon is on the 8th and those dates are the weekend of that week. They must be expecting the runners and families to be staying through the week.

We will be at CBR 1-13 to 1-16 and I am so disappointed about the discounts. I have been waiting and watching for weeks getting my hopes up and now the codes are released and the dates are blacked out. Luckily we have AAA so we get somewhat of a discount, but I am still depressed about it.

Like others have said that's MLK B-Day weekend, and from what others have said, it gets pretty crowded then. That's why I decided to come in on the 16th instead of the 14th.

I called CRO yesterday to book my MYW package with the "free" hopper/fun & more options for Jan 12-17 and had no problem doing so. Not sure if it's because I'm checking in before the 13th or what. I had not made any reservation before yesterday, and didn't get my 1st or 2nd resort choice (POR or POFQ), but I did get CB which is ok with me.

Usually the dates aren't actually bolcked (unless it's X-mas thru New Years), it's just that the rooms available at that discoutnt are limited during busier weekends and legally they can't advertise the rate for those dates unless there are X number of rooms available, so they say it's blocked out. Kinda like when the free dining was offered with a price for values. Then when the booking window ended and then reopened it was advertised at Moderate resorts...there weren't enough value resorts left to allow them to advertise that rate. Give it a try with the discount and you may be surprised!

I just got reservations Monday at POP that started 1/9 and goes through 1/16 with no problems, got a good rate too!
