What's going on Feb 7-13? I have tried to book rooms at Cabana Bay however they are all sold out. I can get a family suite for the 10-13 of Feb. I know its the start of the Mardi Gras but the crowd calendars have this week as a slow week. The deluxe hotels have rooms but I was hoping not to spend that much for a hotel this time.

All I can think of is Mardi gras and then the weekend is Prresidents weekend and a lot of schools have a winter break

Well now I'm curious. We will be there Feb 7-10, staying off property, and not planning to express pass expecting light crowds. Should we be rethinking things?

For what it's worth, we are doing Disney on property the 4th - 7th, and 24 of their resorts are booked as of now. Guessing that's more the norm even this time of year over there?

Anyone have any idea why prices are so much more Sept. 12 and 13th. They are weekdays after Labour Day weekend (3-5th). I booked extra nights at Cabana Bay and I'm switching to a SeaWorld Partner Hotel after but still had to pay more for the 13th than any other night at the same hotel.

The National High School Cheer Competition takes place at Disney from Feb 4 to 7; which explains why you are finding everything booked. As soon as that group leaves, the Mardi Gras family vacationers arrive followed at the end of the week by the President's weekenders. It just happens that is the same week that we booked for AoA thinking it would be a low crowd period. Guess we were wrong on that one. We had to book at this time because my daughter and family teach in China and it is their Chinese New Year vacation break. Oh well, I am sure we will survive. :)

They have now opened up a few more rooms or maybe some people are canceling however its only standard rate no AP discount. We are from La, and yes we are out for Mardi Gras that week. I was trying to surprise the kids with a quick / budget trip back to universal. But I guess this time we will have to stay offsite. Oh well its better than not going at all LOL

We will be there 2/5-2/10. We are out the full week for Mardi Gras but are hoping since we are going early in the week we will miss the President's Day crowd. Did realize about the Cheer Comp at Disney. We were planning on hitting Disney 2 days...Sat & Tues with US/IOA Sun&Mon

Was told by someone who's participated, the cheer events clog the hotels, not the parks. Their squad didn't even see the parks. It was compete all day, then back to the rooms, then go back home when they were done.

A combination of cheer / gymnastic events, Daytona 500 race weeks, and President's day makes that period pretty hard to book.

I'm penciling in February 5-7, but I will most likely be staying off site.
