My family and I watched the planning DVD tonight and I finally convinced my wife to try a moderate. I asked her which appealed to her the most on the DVD and she said the CBR.

For the last hour or so, I have been reading some reviews on another website. (I don't know if it is a DIS approved site, so i won't say which one!!!!)

It mentioned some construction in the Old Port Royale area and Centertown. There was also talk of construction at the pool. Does any know exactly what is going on there?

I personally had my heart set on POR, but the CBR has always intrigued me as well, so I am fine with it!

Main pool is down for rehab until September. Quiet pools are all in service. When are you going?

I LOVE CBR and I've never even been in the pool! The setting is so peaceful and laid back. There's nothing like hearing the Carribean music when you walk into Old Port Royale. We'll be there in July and I can't wait!!!!

You can follow the construction in photos by going to the CBR FAQ. Photos are in the first several posts. Link is listed below.

Does anyone know if the construction is on schedule? We are going in Jan. 09 and can't wait. I think we will ask for a preferred room in Martinique. Which building is better...25 or 26? I have some mobility problems and want to be near bus and food court.

No idea if the construction is on schedule. Preferred rooms are a bookable category. They typically run about $15 extra nightly. There is a bus stop available at every village.

When you make reservations just be sure to request that you would like to be near bus and food court due to mobility problems. I took my 80 year old mom a few years ago and had the same concerns. They were very able to assign us a great room location in Martinique that worked out perfectly for her.

CBR is our favorite - we ventured once to POR but weren't at all happy there so we went back to CBR and have been staying there ever since.

The main pool at CBR is being revamped - but they have pools all thru the resort at the "islands". We will be there twice this summer and have no doubt that the closure of the main pool will be a non-issue.

I was planning to book at POP, but upon some investigation, I found that CBR is actually just about the same price. How can that be? Through expedia, I was looking at CBR, 5 day hopper, airfare, dining, and even insurance. If I have the chioice I HAVE to do CBR. But I have a question. If I book a standard room, how close can I get to Old Port Royale, which seems to be the hub of the excitement, as far as food and entertainment is concerned. I'm going in mid-October 2008.--Peg:cool2:

Unless you have mobility issues I wouldn't worry about the distance to Old Port Royale/main pool. We did not book preferred, but ended up in Martinique. Seems there are some that people consider "far", but its a really pleasant environment to take a stroll. Also there is an internal bus if you really feel too far out.

The pool should be fully availble for your October trip, so for the pools, hot tub and fridge as well as the theming I'd say go CBR.

We stayed at CBR this year and I just loved it there. I wish we had gotten a room in Martinique but other than that, it was wonderful. We too, want to see what the new pool will look like, and we are excited that it might have a Pirate theme.

CBR is a great resort. Its our favorite Mod. We really enjoyed the old pool. I bet the new one is gonna be awesome. I highly recommend this resort:thumbsup2

We love CBR!!! There is construction, but if you are going in 2009 there shouldn't be a problem. If on schedule the construction is supposed to be done around Sept 15th. You are going to have a great time! :thumbsup2
