First off Hello to all, I am a newbie here. I have been on the Disney site trying to get a packet for the Disneyland Hotel the week of April 16 and all the rooms are booked. That seems a little odd to me, as our other option is the week before Easter and there are rooms available then. Is there something special going on in April? Thank for your help.

I'm kind of a newbie too but I read these boards all the time and I was wondering the same thing! I was originally going to go the 16th to the 21st but Sat the 16th was booked solid. I changed it to the 17th and was able to book without problems. I'm hoping that whatever is going on, the crowds are leaving Sunday morning and the park won't be too crowded.

We had to change our dates a few weeks ago from April 12-17th to April 11-16th because the night of the 16th was booked at our hotel (through the travel agency we used--I saw on their website they did still have some rooms). The only thing I found going on was at the convention centers website, which shows the 16-20 being American Association for Cancer Research Annual Spring Convention & Exhibition (12,000 people). http://www.anaheimoc.org/convcalendar/index.cfm?mnth=4&yr=2005#top I don't know that that would make that big of a difference, though?
:confused3

Well, it must have something to do with the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Spring Convention & Exhibition that is going on, as after I read your message, I went back into the Disneyland site and put in dates after April 20 and it is showing rooms available. Thanks for the info.

Hey,

I am attending the AACR meeting, bringing my family, and staying at DLH. I think the AACR has booked a block of rooms...The Disney website shows no rooms available but there are still rooms through the conference. I think that this week is going to be a good week to go to the parks though. The vast majority of doctors/scientists will not bring their familes or go to the parks.

Well, I have absolutely no problems at all sacrificing a room at the Disney Hotel for this event. I am very grateful to the work all the Doctors and scientist are doing to help with Cancer research. I lost my Mom 4 months ago to Kidney Cancer and My Father 10 years ago to Leukemia. It is tough being in my 30's and having already seen the evils of Cancer taking my parents.

Chiefbrody, give a big thanks to everyone there for me for the dedicated work that is done in Cancer research. :cheer2:

Fanofpan is right and I agree completely. I too have seen the horrors of cancer in my family. It took my favorite uncle several years ago but I am glad to say that my father is a cancer survivor and I too appreciate everyone who works on finding a cure for this disease.

I'll be happy to share my vacation with these people! After all....what is Disney without a few crowds anyway!!!

Thanks for those kind words. I am giving a talk about my current research and I will pass along your thoughts to the audience. We really appreciate your support.

Have fun at the parks. Hopefully in the evenings I will be able to spend some time with my family at DL also...

Thanks again
