What's for dinner tonight? (Monday 3-13)

We are having Turkey Artichoke casserole, with warm rolls, homemade jam, and steamed broccoli.

DH is making breaded chicken breasts, Tater Tots and some kind of vegetable.

I have found this thread fascinating, our meals are SO different to yours;) I can only guess what half of the meals are, as we don't have anything similar!

for tea tonight we are having a simple meal of Pork sausage, chips (what you call fries) and beans :teeth:

Italian Cheeseburger Pie with a green salad. Actually, we're having it for lunch, since hubby's working from home today, and our schedules don't match up this evening. Dinner will be every man for himself!

We will probably have sloopy joes and microwave french fries tonight!

I'm making swiss chicken in the crock pot. I got the recipe here on the DIS. I've never had it before but I"m looking forward to going home on a dreary/rainy Monday and having dinner done :thumbsup2
Is it the one with the swiss cheese, cream soup and the stuffing? If so let me know how you like it.I believe I was the OP..
You have to be careful with it in the crock pot, sometimes the bottom of the chicken overcooks...I eat it anyway
I have to go to the grocery store so I want something I can make fast.I'm making Grilled Teriyaki marinated flank steak, Spinach and some sort of pasta

Do you have a recipe for the casserole? This sounds good.

Roast beef and mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and corn and a salad for this house.

I was curious though about the poster from England that said our meals are so different here in the US. What kinds of meals do you serve in England?

Sure. Here it is. We are on a low carb diet here, so this fits the bill for us.

3 Tbs. butter, divided
1 Tbs. olive oil
8 turkey breast cutlets, cut into 1 inch strips
2 cloves garlic, pressed
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
1 4-ounce jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained
2 Tbs. whole-wheat flour
1 14 1/2 ounce can chicken broth

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 Tbs. butter and the olive oil. Throw the turkey in to brown, then add the garlic and mushrooms and keep cooking till everything is smelling very delicious.
Transfer the turkey to a baking dish and arrange the artichoke hearts on top.
In the skillet, melt the remaining butter and add the flour, shisking to blen (no lumps!). Add broth and cook until nicely thickened, then pour over turkey mixture.
Bake the casserole, uncovered, at 350 degrees F. for about 30 to 45 minutes.

fried catfish and brocolli and cheese .... I can't wait for dinner!!!!!

That sounds yummy!
I was going to get a roasted chicken from Sam's Club (they're the best!) but I got inspired in Wegman's and bought soemthing new to try... a jar of Chef Shaikh's medium Curry Sauce. I'll stir fry chicken, then add the sauce and serve with rice, and caulifower & broccoli.
I'd love to see this thread kept going too! It's fun to see what people all over eat!

i have no idea....maybe i will be hit with some inspiration when i get groceries today.

ok i am quoting myself here but, i am home from getting groceries and now i do know what we will be eating tonight!!
it is .....drum roll please......(not really it isn't that exciting) but anywho....boneless parm crusted chicken breasts (chicken breasts were on sale) with fresh green beans, and rice. kind of dull but, reheats well as dh has to work late.

This is a great thread.

My hubby just called to see what's for dinner, I had no idea, but after reading this, Sloppy Joe's sound good. :thumbsup2

Red beans and rice and cornbread for us! (It's Monday - any other cajuns serving this?)

My best friend  is American and we are often asking what's for dinner? She has helped explain a lot of things I've read about, eg a Sloppy Joe!

It's the combination of ingredients that we find different, :stir: especially serving sweet with savoury. We would never eat bacon and eggs along with pancakes & syrup! (we have golden syrup, rather than maple syrup)

Some of our typical meals are:
Shepherds pie (mince beef or pork toped with mashed potato) served with chips (fries), carrots & peas
Cod in batter served with chips & mushy peas
Gammon, served with a fried egg, pineapple rings, chip and peas
Chicken & Mushroom Pizza, chips, & salad (we eat pizza with a knife & fork which my friend found different;))
A typical Sunday lunch would be Roast Pork or Turkey served with Yorkshire puddings, sage & onion stuffing, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, broccolli , peas, gravy & apple sauce.
A traditional English breakfast is bacon, fried egg, sausage (very different to ones we've tried in Orlando), baked beans, mushrooms, half a grilled tomato and fried bread. (usually have it for tea, not breakfast, unless we are on holiday then we would have one as treat :thumbsup2 )

Looking forward to reading more of your meals ideas!

Bev :)

Dang it! My all time favorite. But I'm doing great on my diet. So, tonight I am having a "salad" sandwich:

It has all raw veggies..... and a tiny bit of lite mayo.
