What's for dinner tonight (Friday)?

Friday and Saturday nights are eat-out nights for us. :teeth:

I'm kinda craving Chinese....

we're having vegetarian BIL for dinner tonight, so I'm making a tasting menu of veggie dishes, including russian sttyle egplant, braised cabbage, mushrooms w/ sour cream, creamed spinach, zuccini stir fry, macaroni and cheese (home made), warm bean salad.

It's Friday, so McD's. It's our weekly treat. I'll have a Big Mac meal and DH will have a grilled McChicken meal.

Well, because I went all out last night, me and one of my roommates had one of those dinners that in college are unheard of. I did all the cooking though. I made Chicken Fagitas with Spanish Rice and Chips. Started off cutting the 2 chicken breasts in fagita size pieces, salt, pepper, garlice and lime to season. Then cut up a whole, tomato, green pepper, and onion; fagita size cuts. Drizzle a little olive oil in the pan and cook the chicken until white all around, then add in the veggies. stir and flip occationally. Next we bought those pouches of spanish rice, near the rice o roni, that you just mix in the bag and then microwave it for 90 sec. GREATEST RICE EVER. SOOOO EASY. Next we warmed our tortillas in the our Forman Grill, got some sour cream out, cut up another lime for taste, and finished. Chicken Fagitas with grilled onions and peppers, with spanish rice and tortilla chips on the side. And who said college guys can't cook?....

Well ok, I have an unfair advantage, my dad is a chef.

I went to the farmers market this morning. I got "real steak" minute steaks for subs. I will drag out my deep fryer and do french fries. And the bakery had a great looking chocolate cream pie that I just could not pass up!

It was going to be pizza, because this week I actually cooked a real dinner almost every night! A pot roast and chicken soup in the crock pot, chicken parm, shrimp & polenta- I was afraid if I didn't order pizza tonight the kids would think their mom was replaced with a Stepford robot :rotfl: .

But, dh just called and he feels like grilling a steak (why? It's 32 degrees out there?) So I'll let him do that. It still gets me off the hook!

Warm white bean salad with arugula and walnut pesto, and roasted turnips on the side. We're testing recipes for someone writing a cookbook, and this salad was definitely a winner - we tried it for the first time last week, and we're already making it again. :p

MMMMmmmmm.... can I come over to your house for dinner? :yay:
I'll probably throw a couple of hot dogs into the microwave

BTW, I noticed your sig and had to say that I am so impressed!!! Totally awesome and such a great inspiration!! :cheer2:

Tonight it's YO-YO! (You're On Your Own)

DH is going to a Blues concert with some buddies and they'll get some appetizers there. I'm going to a Creative Memories Power Sort, so I'll have a quick salad at home. DS17 is taking his brothers (ages 11 and 13) to see Glory Road since they all have gift cards. They are so excited that McDonald's has 6-piece chicken nuggets on the dollar menu - I'll give them $20 to eat before the movie.

Usually for Yo-Yo's I keep frozen pizzas, chicken tenders, etc. on hand and everyone makes what they want. I have been cooking up a storm the past few weeks - I'm ready for a break!

Rack of lamb (for the DH), wild mushroom risotto, roasted beets, and seared spinach. Whatever wine he picks (as long as it is red!).

I bought these interesting vegetable blends with sauce from Birds Eye. I'm planning on cooking one, adding some grilled chicken to it and serving it over rice. Quick, easy and healthy. Can't ask for better than that. Now lets hope it tastes good.

How would it be minus the mushrooms? I hate mushrooms.

Was it hard to make? It looks like a lot of work.

(wahh, I sound like such a whiner, but I hate cooking :rotfl: )

Marseeya,

Sure!! Leave out the mushrooms! It had roasted red pepper in the recipe and I left those out and added some shredded-carrots-in-a-bag :) Turned out just fine!

It does seem like a lot of work, but it wasn't. It was so good and it made a TON of food. I won't be cooking tomorrow! :)

salad with grilled chicken bacon and colby and jack cheese with ranch dressing :goodvibes

Not cooking tonight...it's DS 12th birthday. I told him he could pick a place to eat tonight...he picked Todd English Blue Zoo at the Dolphin! We had a wonderful dinner....

Tonight's dinner was:

London Broil (marinated in Yoshidas)
sauteed mushrooms
roasted asparagus
home fries
spinach dip
and strawberry shortcake for dessert

In laws left very happy and full!

Suzanne

I'm jealous of all these homecooked meals...the dining halls here took a nosedive in the month that we were away. The choices since I've gotten back to school have been awful.
Tonight I had:
chicken nuggets (McDonalds style :sad2: )
mashed potatoes (semi edible)
cheesy bread (best part of the meal)
raspberry lemonade

My mom is coming to bring some stuff for my room tomorrow, and when she said "we could maybe go out to eat if you want but we don't have to", I asked her if she was crazy. Tomorrow's dinner can't come soon enough
