What's for boys in the "new" fantasyland?

This thread has a few strange turns - but I am just surprised ANYONE would even bring up "there is nothing for boys".

My world is so gender neutral that I struggle with the fact that people still think of things like this.

Why aren't princesses for boys too?

Yeah, we don't do much divide and conquer except as absolutely necessary to accommodate the age difference between our kids (baby swap because DD1 can't ride the Mountains that DS11 and DD8 love, splitting up for the DHS shows because DD1 would be scared by LMA & Indy), so I'm hoping that this will be handled in such a way that DS11 isn't just standing in line. But my feeling basically comes down to the fact that nothing could be worse than the slapped-together-feeling Toontown meetings. If nothing else, in a themed queue, DS can pass his time Hidden Mickey hunting with his camera, same as he does if we run into longish lines for attractions he does want to see. But he's older; a young boy would have to be on a shorter leash, so in-queue amusement presents a tougher problem.

We hate divide and couquer, too. For years we had to do it at DHS because the older crew wanted to ride the TOT, and RNC. I love being able to hang together, chat, laugh, you know, be goofy.

We stopped doing toontown years ago! I know they will ditch me when I walk through the new area, if I want to do anymore than just stroll through!

Your world may be gender neurtral, but testosterone flows through this place. The only boys I know who like princess stuff are the poor little boys who have big sisters, and don't know there is anything different out there!

I would never want to live in a gender neutral world. The differences are what make life exciting.

Princesses are boring. Unless you want to be one, or be involved with one. See past reference to men visiting Ariel.

And if I'd like to meet the princesses my brother would understand, because we'd do something they'd like next. That's what families do.

Families do watch out for one another. While patience is a virtue, selfish behavior isn't. There is give and take on both side, imo.

Disney can do what they want. That doesn't mean I have to agree. Look at how they screwed up Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, and Figment. NOt to mention the sad demise of Mr. Toad! They do a ton right, which is why we go every year for 3 weeks. But, sometimes, I think they sadly miss the boat. This is just an opinion based on having 5 boys and 1 girl, and working in residential treatment with kids for 25 years. Maybe early on the girls did think it was all about the boys, but this generation of girls is smart enough to know that they can have it all. Most boys have no desire to cross those lines and have it all.

Girls are encouraged to cross the lines, and hailed when they do, but should a male do this they are tagged a sissy or worse. No wonder they're not encouraged to do so.

Are you offended by the word estrogen? It is a naturally occuring hormone found in greater amt. in girls than boys. It isn't an offensive term at all. I'm kind of fond of mine. Well, with the exception of those migraines.

So a boy into princesses is a "poor little boy". Wow, talk about generalizations. There will always be anatomical gender differences, but a boy liking Ariel, Unicorns, whatever has absolutely no bearing on his testosterone, which you seem to equate with masculinity.

They'd play Barbies with me, I'd play Star Wars with them.

I don't see how they having to wait while I get a picture when they know they get to pick the next thing we do as "selfish behavior"
To us, that IS give and take.

Actually I don't care that others have different opinions. I think of it as conversation. Most people don't agree about everything. I'm just wondering why people take it personally when there is a criticism of Disney. Don't you all ever disagree with what they do? Have you BEEN in SE lately. Big time mistake.

Boys who aren't allowed to act like typical boys are just as sad as boys who are not allowed to like girl things, don't you think?

I have tried to go through all the pages, but I may have missed something. I am sorry if someone already posted this.
Tomorrow land is geared to boyish things, Buzz, Space, Monsters, ect. The idea with Disney is to make the whole park for everyone, some rides will be more toward one sex. Overall it is set up to have everyone enjoy the park. If you have two boys, look at the bright side, less time you have to spend in stroller jammed Fantasyland!
