What's for boys in the "new" fantasyland?

The only way the line situation would logically be quadrupled is if the new attractions/areas draw 4x more people that the current arrangement. I don't see that happening; those who are into the Princesses and Fairies are going to wait to meet them, and those who aren't, won't. The meet & greets will appeal to the same audience, but that audience will be distributed between 4 queues rather than 1. And they're already talking face characters that spend time with each child; that aspect isn't changing and isn't going to add time to the experience.

So little boys will have shorter lines to wait through and parents will have the option of breaking up the wait time rather than doing it all at one the way it is now. To me, it sounds like a better arrangement overall - wait 20min for Belle, then ride Dumbo, then 20min for Ariel, then ride Little Mermaid, then 20min for Aurora, then ride Barnstormer... Much better and more balanced than just waiting 60+min in the Toontown Tent.

ETA: I'm curious what you envision when you say Disney should put something in for boys to do while their sisters wait for mett & greets. I can't really picture how that could be handled in such a way that one parent could adequately supervise the boy enjoying his thing without stepping out of the line for the meet & greet. Like at Ariel's Grotto - there are the little splash fountains, but the line isn't entirely in site of them and I wouldn't be comfortable with my youngish child running around that area with me very close by, so it really isn't much help as far as a distraction while waiting.

YOu may be right about the lines. My thought process is that if you have 4 princesses with 4 lines, I don't see any of them as having just 10 or 20 people in them. That means getting each group or child in, talking, picturing, and moving them out, so perhaps 3-5 minutes a piece. That line becomes a 30 to 60 minute line. X's 4.

You make a good point about the boys having something to do. It would be nice if there were a thing or two that could be done and at least break up the line to line for the whole morning. Maybe the area will be small enough to jump over to the Barnstormer, or peter pan. It is difficult for me to picture space wise. It looks like that might not be practical, though. If there are 2 parents, then you can divide and conquer, but I don't see that as time together.

LOL! Not snarky at all. Just pointing out that the popcorn smiley with no thoughts or opinions is stupid. Why post it?

LOL, just realized you are the poster with no kids, and especially no boys. Surprise, surprise you don't give a crap whether they are having fun or not.

Did it occur to you that maybe the popcorn thingie was just an attempt to subscribe to the thread? Heck, when I was new here I recall doing the same things, prior to learning how to do it without a post. So critical, lighten up....

Besides, I'd rather see a smiley eating popcorn and nothing else than an unnecessary slam on another Dis member, insinuating they're stupid. Sheesh!

Have a magical day all!

It's been a tough week..... and I only have $.02 left....
So I thought I'd throw it in here and the un-subscribe to this....lol ;)

I have faith in the professionals that are handling this huge expansion!!!
Disney doesn't do things .... or invest $$ in things ........ without really putting a GREAT deal of thought and research into it!!!
case and point..... Expedition Everest!! and Finding Nemo - the Musical (at AK) wow.... they did great there!! :thumbsup2

So..... I leave this thread with the confidence that Disney will make this one H*** of an expansion for all guests!!!!!!:banana:
And I can't wait to see it in 2012!!!!!

ROCK ON!

Disney is a park for ALL, families, single, no kids, many kids, not just little girls or little boys...

And what does that have to do with you making snarky, yes snarky comments to other posters? If someone wants to post just a smiley as a reply, that's their business, not yours. You don't rule this thread, you know.

And FYI - People who don't have kids have just as much right to post their opinions on these boards as people who do have kids.

Of course everyone has a right to post. Don't be silly. I am allowed my opinion, too. Right?

And people with no kids are allowed to post their opinions. They just mean very little when they don't have a clue about having their own children and dealing with a situation. It is all about their grownup wannabe princess attitude. And nothing to do with how a youngish boy might view it. Older boys can just bail and run off somewhere with less pink. I thought this thread was a question about what disney could have done to be a blessing to all of their patrons rather than just the estrogen filled bunch.

I don't really understand the whole new 'fantasyland is not for boys'. If we are speaking purely on blanket, stereotypical girl/boy gender roles, then Adventureland would seem to be made mostly for boys. Frontierland seems to be made mostly for boys. One could even argue that Tomorrowland is mostly for boys.

Please don't tell me your girl loves one of the aforementioned lands, because I've already said I am just speaking on pure gender stereotypes, which is also what I think the 'only girls will like the new fantasyland' is as well.

Why can't there be a land that seems stereotypically made for girls only?

If you would like to call what you are typing an "opinion," you might want to do it with less of a condescending attitude.

And excuse me, but who are you to tell me my opinions mean very little just because I don't have children? I assure you they mean every bit as much as anyone else's, including yours. Please get off that high-horse!

And "Estrogren filled bunch?" Wow, sounds like you've got some issues to sort out with yourself.

The Dis Boards really needs an ignore button.

My honest opinion of this is that girls are encouraged to cross those lines, and thrive when they do. I think that the pirate dress up place has as many girls as boys participating. Capt. Jack and Elizabeth Swan have made the pirates popular both to the "crush" group, and the female wannabe pirate girls!

Disney can do what they want. That doesn't mean I have to agree. Look at how they screwed up Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, and Figment. NOt to mention the sad demise of Mr. Toad! They do a ton right, which is why we go every year for 3 weeks. But, sometimes, I think they sadly miss the boat. This is just an opinion based on having 5 boys and 1 girl, and working in residential treatment with kids for 25 years. Maybe early on the girls did think it was all about the boys, but this generation of girls is smart enough to know that they can have it all. Most boys have no desire to cross those lines and have it all.

Goodluck with the ball game tomorrow! I've got several friends heading there!

lOL, ignore would be nice, wouldn't it? Be assured I hunted for one, too!

Are you offended by the word estrogen? It is a naturally occuring hormone found in greater amt. in girls than boys. It isn't an offensive term at all. I'm kind of fond of mine. :upsidedowWell, with the exception of those migraines.:upsidedow

This is the flaw in that theory. It is not the name of the land that people have complained about making it "overly girly", but what is contained with in that land. I know I have said, and I'm sure others have said it as well, it is not the name of the land that makes is girly. To me, at least, the names of the lands are all gender nuetral. I don't think anyone has complained that the name itself "Fantasyland" is the issue making it "overly girly".

Nope, not offended by that word, just your condescending attitude in general. If you don't understand what I mean, here's an example: defining the word "estrogen" to me like I'm some sort of moron.

This will be my last response to your bullying. You have a nice day.

If Disney announced they were giving away a million dollars to each guest, there would SOMEBODY complaining that "why isn't it TWO million"?? Or Why is it only one million per family if my family has more kids than that family...

People are always going to find something to complain about.

And some people take wondering or complaining personally when it has nothing to do with them. weird, huh?

I guess that maybe stockholders might have a reason to be offended, but I can't imagine why people would be upset about the concerns of others.

So true! I really don't get that mentality at all.:confused3

Yeah, we don't do much divide and conquer except as absolutely necessary to accommodate the age difference between our kids (baby swap because DD1 can't ride the Mountains that DS11 and DD8 love, splitting up for the DHS shows because DD1 would be scared by LMA & Indy), so I'm hoping that this will be handled in such a way that DS11 isn't just standing in line. But my feeling basically comes down to the fact that nothing could be worse than the slapped-together-feeling Toontown meetings. If nothing else, in a themed queue, DS can pass his time Hidden Mickey hunting with his camera, same as he does if we run into longish lines for attractions he does want to see. But he's older; a young boy would have to be on a shorter leash, so in-queue amusement presents a tougher problem.
