What's Close to Windsor Hills

We are going to WH in April. What's close by for groceries, dining, shopping? Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a map?

HI Marli,

I can tell you, I have done my homework on Windsor Hills and have found nothing but good reviews. Its not a timeshare, so you don't have to worry about sitting through a sales pitch. From what I can see, its pretty close to everything you would want or need.

That said, I'm nervous about it too, because I've never planned a trip before!! Fingers are crossed!!

I have also done a ton of research (thank you dis boards) and this place seems incredible. I was also nervous the first time I tried out the cypress pointe villas after reading about them on these boards and we LOVED staying there, we would have gone back, but WH looks even better. I am not as familiar with the area around the WH resort but we have a car so I'm sure we will find everything without too much trouble. I am so excited for this trip, we haven't been to Disney in 2 years, and I can't wait to go back!

We are staying in a 6 bedroom home in Windsor Hills Mar 3 - 17. We have stayed at many homes in communities just off Old Lake Wilson Rd (where Windsor Hills is). You are going to LOVE IT. It has to be one of the closest communities to WDW. In fact, if you just go across 192 instead of going up to the main highway that takes you into WDW, you hit the Animal Kingdom in less than 5 minutes!!

There is everything you could ever want on 192 all within 5 minutes. There is a nice Ponderosa right at the corner....Splendid China has a grocery store at the corner but it is a bit pricey so take a few extra minutes (about 3 extra minutes) and go left on 192 and there is a Publix that has everything you could want!

Windsor Hills is amazing. I know we are all going to love it. I got this house for 2 weeks for $2400 including taxes and pool heat! When you split that between 3 families it is such a deal. See you all at the club house!!

You will love it! We stayed in the area last August for two weeks. Everything you could possibly want or need is just minutes away including WDW!!!! I swear there is a Walgreen's every 3 blocks on that strip. They sell everything there. My sister got her pictures developed there for a good price. I wish I could remember the shortcut to Animal Kingdom area off the highway but we used it every day and were on Disney property within 5 minutes of leaving our villa. I am sure someone else will remember the name of the road. I found out about it on these boards.

The only drawback was the distance to the Target and Wal-Mart. They are both about a 15-20 minutes drive up the strip. We went a few times after we got back from the parks to stock up on groceries etc. but we did most of our grocery shopping at the Publix or Winn Dixie right by the villa.

We stayed at Orange Lake last year which is about a mile past the intersection you go down to get to WH. If you go left out there and just follow all the way up to US.27 and go North (to the right) there is a Super Walmart right there. It should only take about 10 minutes to get there. If you go the other way (left) all the way down 192 it takes forever to get to that Walmart. The one on 27 is new in the last couple of years.

You will love it, we stayed in a townhouse in May 06 for a week with a family of 6 it was wonderful. There is a small grocery store in the shopping centre closest to you however i found best deals on food was at a super Target or Walmart, worth the little longer drive.
