We've never rented any of the boats and thought the Kayaks or canoes might be fun - we're going in January. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this - which marina did you rent from and what did you most enjoy about it? If you've rented from multiple marinas, which did you think offered the prettier location for paddling around?

Thank you.

you rent them at the Bikebarn.....this is located by meadows pool in the heart of Fort wilderness. you canoe/Kayak in the canals that are inside Fort wilderness. There are single person kayaks and 2 person kayaks. there are also 2 seat canoes.

Thank you for answering this question. So that is what the water flow that runs all over the campgroung is really for! I have been trying to figure it out for some time, but all I got is that it was some kind of "ditch". So, this water canal is really for water sport?

well, all of central florida is basically built up on old swamp land. the canals give the area a swampy outdoor feel.....as well as keeps the water table under the ground balanced. The canals in the fort are full of fish, and some other wildlife from time to time (some turtles, snakes, and alligators). All in all, it is a pretty nice little canoe/kayak trip. very scenic due to its swampy feel.

Don't be confused... The water you see around the campsites is not accessable with the canoes and kayaks. You rent them at teh bike barn, and there is a small pond out front. A canal from that pond links to the major canal that runs behind the 300 - 1800 loops. From the water I doubt if you will see any campsites, but you will see some of the golf course across from the campground.

I think that I was the one who gave you the "ditch" answer, and yes the water on the map around the campsites are generally very smalll water retention areas to keep the campsites dry.

First, to SOME DISNEY GUY. It is common knowledge the fact about central FL and the swamp land. That much I already knew, but thanks anyways. I just wanted to know exactly what is the use or purpose of having this "snakelike" water flow running all over the campgroung. I did not know if it was a river, a creek or whatever. I will be staying for the Holidays at a cabin (preferably in loop 2300 or 2500) and because I have 2 kids I wanted to know if it would make an interesting spot to be in. Now for TIM 5055, I appreciate your concern about this matter. But see, there are different answers for one question. As a cast member, I could use your knowledge on some topics I have some doubt. Let's keep in touch, shall we?
