I'm going on a weekend trip.... Typhoon Lagoon durring the day, DownTown Disney at night. Next day is a Disney Collectors Convention at the Cornado Convention center Sept 29th.

I've never stayed over at DTD. What is the best, and close enough to walk back?

Thanks :wizard:

Best meaning? ( not looking for the most expensive, not really a resort snob... but don't care what I have to pay...since its just one night...I think I'm looking for best location to DTD without hearing loud music and parking lot at 3:00am)

Hilton Resort and Grosvenor Resort look very close to DTD ....looking at an old map, but I think they've built a few more recently?

SSR is a short walk, as are the DTD Hilton and Buena Vista Palace (both of which are across the street). There are sidewalks to walk from any of the DTD hotels to DTD, but the farther away you are, the longer the walk. There is also boat transportation to/from SSR, if you're tired of all the walking.

Thanks for the help

I've heard Hilton starts at $200

What's a price range for SSR ? :wizard:

The Hilton is the best option. We paid right around $100 for it.

Hilton, Buena Vista Palace and Grosvenor are the closest to DTD. Of those, I like BVP the best. It is the biggest resort of the DTD hotels with lots of acres to explore and relax. Being 20+ stories high you can get rooms (Most with balconies) that have nice views.
Check it out here http://www.downtowndisneyhotels.com/bvp.html

I would not recommend the Grosvenor because after staying there one weekend I have renamed it to the Grossnor. The pictures on the website are a little misleading. :sad2:

I have stayed at SSR, in a studio, and it was beautiful. The 2007 rack rates for the night you are gonig to be there is around $279. If you can find a DVC member that you can rent points from for that night you could probably be in the room for close to half of that. The studio has a small kithenette that has a toaster, microwave, sink, small fridge, and is stocked with paper plates, glasses and plasticware. It is a short walk from SSR to DTD and if you are on the west end of the resort you can easily hop a small boat that will take you to DTD or walk.

I would also say Saratoga Springs Resort. If you got into the Congress Park area it would be a very quick walk to DTD and has a bus right to Typhoon Lagoon.

I would stay Hilton as first choice, closest to DTD. Last year end of Sept I paid $109 a night, executive level including the lounge. Nice hotel.

Rates are low for your date...starting at $92-99, I just looked at the Hilton site.

I don't know where all these great rates for the Hilton are coming from! I can't seem to find anything less than $245 a night.
I've already booked into The Royal Plaza, but did extensive research before hand...must be when I'm going that causes it to be so high. :sad1:

Buena Vista Palace is awesome - we have stayed there on 4 separate occasions. Rooms are huge, transportation not an issue. You can walk across the street to DTD or take a bus whichever you prefer. My sis & I took our daughters there last year for a week-end trip while they were attending a concert at the House of Blues. It was perfect!! We could hit the shops while they stood at the concert!!

Whichever you choose - enjoy!!
