What's available @ 7month window for BLT

I'm planning a family vacation for next April, there will be 10 to 14 of us going.
I don't have enough points at BLT to book all the accommodations we will need. Was planning on booking a 2 bedroom now, have 300 pts available, and waiting to book studio/1 bedroom at 7 month mark when I can use my other points. I was wondering if this is the best use of my points, if I will have issues with availability at the 7 month mark, or should I divide the pts between the two. Any suggestions?

I those other points are at Wdw then I would book that resort now and switch at 7 months.
Usually there are lake view available at 7months but if you are talking about Easter week?

What happens if part of your group backs out at the last minute? Will it be okay to lose those points if you can't cancel and bank? With a large group it sometimes is better to let everyone book their own lodging. It tends to keep them on track with the vacation and less likely to cancel for less than a good reason.

If you are talking about first week of April, which is Easter week, your chances are likely very low. Other times in April your chances should be good, and the later in April the higher the chance.

No, it is safer to say some of the villa sizes in lake view may be available at seven months out for times when DVC isn't busy. And it is getting so that DVC is busy almost all year long. Early February, early march, late August, mid-September are about it for non-busy time.
