What's around the Orlando Airport?

Strange question? Well, yes possibly

To make a longish story short - I'm from Norway, but lived in the US for several years some years back. I miss some "stupid" things, such as eating in chain restaurants and shopping at Target, Barnes & Noble, Pier 1 and WalMart. When I lived in Nashville, there was an area with businesses like these close to the airport.

Which is why the idea struck me; if I put our family in a hotel close to the airport on the last night before we return home - can we do some last minute shopping/eating? What's the best area? I've seen hotels to the south, north and east of the airport..

I am staying at one of the hotels just to the north of the airport on the first and last night of my upcoming trip. The restaurants I see around there according to google earth are: Hooters, Denny's, TGI Friday's, Chili's, and Tony Roma's. Plus a handful of others that I have never heard of. I am from Canada so most of these are places I have never been. I was hoping someone could give me a bit of a which is good and which isn't on them. As far as shopping goes I don't have a clue. I am not taking time out for that. For me those two time periods are for eating, sleeping, and getting to/from Disney, that's it.

I'd choose not to go to Hooters... well, because I'm not that into hooters
Tony Romas has ribs, seafood, steak - I think it's ok (never been, but heard nice things), Denny's has basic diner fare, Chili's is "Americanized" texMex/southwestern, and TGI has burgers, salad, ribs, steak, some seafood. All chains, all a bit void of personality, but I like'em

Have a feeling Tony Romas might be higher priced/higher quality than Chili's/TGI. Of these I'd try Tony Romas, just because I've noe tried it before - or Chili's if I had to choose among the rest.

There's also a Cracker Barrel, Longhorns, Regular Walmart(about 4 miles N of Airport), Friday's, Chili's, Sonny's BBQ, Bonefish Grill, Tony Roma's, Denny's, Ale House, Five Guys Hamburgers.

Just remember don't buy gas right next to the airport. They are the highest in the nation and don't post prices.
