I had been using Schwab's invest first card which gave you 2% back but then they pulled the plug on that last fall so I went back to using the disney card. I have been a card holder since Day One and have never, ever, received a bonus offer, including the 3% offers that everyone is getting now. Of course I always pay off my balance on time each month so they never make any money off of me. :rotfl: So my question is, is there another good rewards card out there that you use? I saw the Chase Freedom card and they give back 1% but would like to not use a Chase card since that may not prompt any bonus offers on either card.

I have the Disney and another Chase card and get offers on both. After all, the idea of the bonus offers is to get us to spend more. :surfweb:

I like Discover, much better rewards than DV, but I use DV as well. Discover often has double rewards or 5x rewards on much broader catagories with no minimum and unlike DV anyone can sign up for he special offers from their website. Also you can cash out for cash or merchant GC (not Disney) and if you do GC you get a higher value (like 20 pts for a $25 GC). I often get gas cards and themn put the $$ I saved into my vacation fund.

I have a DV, Discover and a Chase Freedom. The offers from Chase Freedom have been awesome lately. 5% cash back on groceries last quarter and again this quarter up to $1500. When Discover offers the bonus on groceries its usually only up to $200-$300.

We have the American Express Blue card which has pretty good rewards.

I second AmEx Blue. Lots of options for your rewards (gift cards, travel, etc). No annual fee either. :thumbsup2

Yep, what she said.

I just got a credit card through Citizens Bank for gas, and since we are driving to Disney from NY, I will be gassing up a lot! They are giving 10% on gas purchases for 90 days and something like 2% on other purchases. I plan on using just that for 90 days for gas and getting the 10% plus I can pay the bill right at my local branch when the purchase hits!

The best card out there in terms of getting the most points for your dollars spent is The GM Card. You get 5 points per $100 spent. Really great if you want to buy a GM car in the future.

If you're a Costco member, their American Express card is hard to beat, especially, if you're a frequent traveler:

  • 3% cash back for gas purchases
  • 3% cash back for dining out
  • 2% cash back for travel (airfare/hotels/car rental)
  • 1% cash back everywhere else (including Costco)

Fidelity Investments Amex - 2% on everything. Just like the Schwab card. Also got the Fidelity Investments Visa at 1.5% on everything for places that don't take amex.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will look into the Fidelity Amex and Amex Blue. I do already have a discover card but only use it for the 5% offers. They only give you .25% in rewards until you reach a certain level. I did find an EmigrantDirect card giving 1.4%. I already have an account there and meet their minimum balance level.
