What's a "Comeback" rate?

I have read several post speaking of comeback rates. I am assuming you can possibly book the same resort for next year upon checkout at the same rate you were getting for your current stay. Is that correct and is it honored not matter what type rate you get?

It was a promotion run earlier this year, I believe it ended in March. You had to call from your room in a WDW resort for a stay for the remainder of 2003, 40% off, 3 night minimum. I believe they put notices of the promotion in the rooms.

I saw the comeback offer during my Feb trip this year. It was a very good rate. It was just 2 or 3 dollars more per night (moderates) than I had booked with the AP rate. You had to call from on property before your stay ended to book with that rate.

The only thing I didn't like about the offer was that it was a "package" through WDTC. It required a $200 deposit and the more strict cancellation and payment rules of WDTC.

Of course, if I hadn't had the AP rates available to me, I would have done quite a little dance for joy even with the added restrictions.

I didn't see that offer when I went back in May, so I'm not sure when they ended that promotion.

I have always recieved cards in the mail offering me a good discount on the class of the last resort I stayed in. last year I stayed at the BC and I just recieved a card with a code for $90 off a night at any of the premium resorts. This time I am staying at the POR and so next time I'll get one for moderates I imagine.

I must be doing something wrong, in the past 2 years, I have stayed at the Poly three times and the Boardwalk once. I've never gotten a card - gipped I tell you.
