lmao...right, like THAT'LL happen! Everytime she says she's bored..I tell her she can clean... she said she wants something "FUN", not cleaning!!
Ohhhm, hunny...
I have 3 kids, now 23, 16, & 14. I remember those days well. In my house there is a rule--if you complain of being bored you are required to do some housework. Not that I won't help you do something fun later, but the housework comes first. This is not a bad thing, though. I find that kids actually like to do chores, if you work with them. There is nothing better than washing dining room chairs on the back porch or hanging out laundry to dry.
Summertime is kinda tough because the kids' friends are away on vacation, the schedule is topsy-turvy, and sometimes our kids are at loose ends. They *do* feel bored sometimes--but that isn't my problem, or yours. By the time a kid is 7yo they should be capable of entertaining themselves for large portions of the day. It is not our job to provide entertainment all day long, all summer. That's their job.
I keep my craft shelves well-stocked with paper, scissors, paints, popsicle sticks, glue, clay, chennielles, etc. I keep craft books and language books around. The TV and computer are off! Library once a week and all the kids were expected to check out enough books to last a week. Sometimes the kids will still say "I'm bored." But I'll give them a moment to think about it and they nearly always say, "nevermind. I'll find something to do, Mom."
Put your child in charge of her own entertainment.
