We're doing a 2 adult, 2 kiddo trip and I've been eager to see if it is possible to house, ticket and feed 4 people for less than $2500.

I was waiting and waiting for the end of that...did I miss it??????

I am still here, quietly plotting and planning, researching and redoing.... I will have updates soon......:)

Just say to word and I will mail you my stock pile of granola bars amd peanut butter crackers.

Good luck Teresa!! still cheering for ya!

Hi Teresa,

I've been listening to your planning on the podcast and finally registered so I could tell you my experience with the Disney Dining Plan. I'm in charge of my family's reunion at WDW this year, so I've been trying out various options. I ran the Dopey (the Goofy plus the 5k) in January and used that trip to try the Dining Plan. I bought the 2 Quick Service Meals and 2 Snacks Option and it came to about $30 per night. I don't normally eat that much food, but the snack options are so varied that I was able to use all but one of my meals. I used the snack option for chili cheese fries, for grits at breakfast, for bottles of water (for the parks), for ice-cream sundaes, and for rice krispy Mickeys (also for breakfast). I was chastised by a cashier for using my snack option to get a cookie, because the snack option is for items up to $4 or so and she wanted to make sure I got my money's worth). There was a list of the snack options in the cafeteria that was 2 full columns and included a wide variety of breakfast foods, traditional snack items, beverages, treats (like the ice-cream sundae), etc. As for the meals, each meal includes an entree (combo meal), dessert, and a beverage. I tried to get portable desserts that could be snacks or breakfast and I always got a bottle of water to carry around in the park. My most-valuable meal was at the barbecue place in Hollywood Studios. I got the chicken with two sides, dessert and a bottle of water, which would have cost over $20, but counted as a single meal, thanks to the Dining Plan. I received the refillable insulated mug, too, but I only drink Dr Pepper, water and tea, so I didn't use it very much. It's not wasted, though, because I use it at work, instead of paper or plastic cups from the cafeteria. I hope that helps.

Good luck with planning your vacation!

Can't wait to hear how it works out.

LOL, I still think the granola bars should count.

If we go, we have to count them. Can't bring them on the plane - bags are always full to the point I'm cramming in the deodorant that morning - and will have to make a grocery stop for snacks and such...which I count in my budget.

But I'll give her $2500 +/- $50. :)

I just want to know if you can actually do all that, that cheaply, for four peeps.

Teressa take as long as you need :goodvibes I know how I felt trying to plan our first trip to WDW and I did not have the world of DISers watching my every move :scared1:

Thank you! I'm having fun planning my family reunion and am getting lots of great ideas from all the posters on the boards!

Glad to hear Pete changed the rules for Teresa, taking Max out of the equation as he would have counted as an adult. Now she is doing the "average" trip of 2 adults and 2 children, according to this week's podcast.

So Max gets to stay home and Kitty Sit Klaus and Roxie.

Let's see...a budget trip with the family in WDW or a trip to Europe with Pete and Walter?

I think Max is coming out ahead on this one!!

Question... I've listened to the podcasts about Teresa's trip and I can't remember... does she and her family have to stay on site? A friend of mine who is taking his family of four on their very first trip to Disney found a deal on www.bookit.com. It includes 7 nights hotel at 40% off the regular rate, plus if you purchase 3 day Disney tickets through them they give you 4 days free. So basically he's getting 7 nights in a hotel plus 7 day park tickets for 2 adults and 1 child (the other child is under 3) for less than $1200. That doesn't include flights or food but I'm sure their vacation will end up costing them less than $2500. (FYI - I just checked the website, the deal is a 48 hour sale and ends at midnight tonight, it's for the Seralago hotel)

I also wanted to add, although not sure if this is the right thread to do it... I don't think Teresa should be able to use her Florida resident discount in pricing out this trip. 99% of the people who go to WDW aren't from Florida, so I don't know how using a Florida Resident discount can possibly apply to most people. At least if you use an AP discount, AAA or something like that you can say that it's available to everyone whereas a Florida Resident discount is not.

I thought I saw a thread where she blew the $2500 on Glitter and Chocolate
