What you wanted and what you got......FD

We were booked Sept 29-Oct 6 at POP - 2 Standard rooms, 5 day base tickets, and regular DDP.
I called at 7:02 this morning, waited on hold for a little over half an hour, then upgraded to 2 Garden View Rooms at POR - even with the upgrade we saved $4-500! :cool1:
This is our very first stay on property, we are sooo excited! :cool2:

I was on the phone right away this morning. I was also trying to book online. I got through online and could only get All Star Sports. So, I booked it.

Tonight I went back online, just to check, and was able to get the Free Dining with POP. As of right now, I have two confirmation numbers, two deposits and two reservations. I will call tomorrow and get it straightened out. :yay:

My TA did all the dirty work for me. :) We were able to keep our garden view at Poly ressie. Originally we wanted to stay at AoA but no discounts are available for there, so off to Poly we go!!

I wanted POR preferred room. First booked standard room on March 1, then changed that to garden view today. Just checked an hour ago and a preferred came up online and I booked that, so I was finally able to get what I wanted!

Definetly keep trying- I checked online at various times throughout the day, standards came and went, water view came and went, garden seemed to pretty much stay available. You just never know- congrats to everyone that got what they wanted!
oh awesome! Ill have to keep checking! My DH says not to stress and enjoy the garden view! But Im a true DISer lol! Gotta keep obsessing lol!

I was my CM's first call this morning and I am a 1st timer :) I booked 7 night and 8 days at CBR in a pirate room and a king standard for my parents. Our original plan (before free dining) was to book art of animation suite with dining but with it not being included we got 2 rooms at a MOD and still saved over 450 between the two rooms!! :cool1:

Thats so cool! The pirate rooms look so awesome! My would love that room! Plus I heard the pool is awesome! I love how lucky everyone has gotten!

booked for Sept 17-27 w/FD
wanted POR prefered
Got RGR for $54 more.
After reading-up and see the photo's on the POR thread, we decided to stick with RGR even if prefered opens up to FD. RGR's seem uber magical and the kids will go nuts over it.
I think this might be a case in which, not getting what I wanted originally, turns out to be a good thing.

At first we were looking to save money. I wanted POP, need 2 rooms, but we were upgrading to the Regular Dining Plan. Was told no rooms available. Movies had a preferred room, so I booked that. Then DH decided pool room was more important and the fact the moderate bus stops leaving the park are closer to the exit was important too. So I wanted a Moderate. I wanted POR, but they only had garden view, so we went with Caribbean Beach, only 1 kid was awake and I let him pick the resort, this was his choice. He liked the pool.

Now, I am second guessing, should I have steered him towards CSR? We have never stayed there, so I don't know. :confused3

I called in the afternoon . . . acidentally hung up the phone just as the rep answered the first time and had to call back, so my total wait was about half an hour.

What I wanted was for free dining to start a week earlier :lmao:

However, I booked a split stay at POR. First half has 2 day tickets, POR standard room. The second half has free dining, 8 day tickets which we will pick up 3 days early, and had to take the royal room standard view.

I would have been much happier with free dining for the whole two weeks, and a standard room, but this is better than paying rack rate.

Funny, the CM was going to give me 10 day tickets on the second reservation, and none on the first, and I had to tell her that wouldn't work, because I could only pick up the tickets for that second reservation 3 days in advance.

I really wanted POR. But this is what happened. Called first thing with the DV promo paid in full for CBR. Could have gotten a garden room at POR for 100.00 more but we have never stayed at CBR. So we figured we would give it a try.

TA did our dirty work as well - glad it was them on hold for an hour and not us (especially with no 800 number) :scared1:

Originally booked:
POFQ 2 queens/garden view
QSDP

What we got with the FD promo:
POFQ king bed room (view???)
DDP

All that was available to TA when she called was the king bed room - no standard or garden view at all. Fine with us as there's just us two. Still saved us money (just a little), and we're happy with what we got. We were going to keep our fingers crossed for king bed upgrade availability once we arrived anyhow ... this way we don't have to worry about it! ;)

Needed four rooms at a value yesterday morning. After we saw that with the DV offer there wasn't a lot of availability we decided we would be happy with POP, All Stars Music, or All Stars Movie but would really prefer POP. Went online yesterday morning right when it was available and all that was available was All Star Sports. This was definitely not our first choice it actually was our last choice. But just to be sure we got the Free Dining we reluctantly booked the Sports rooms.

Everyone was grateful and good to go because we were going to Disney World and had Free Dining! Who cared where we stay?

Being the OCD travel planner I am, I came home yesterday afternoon around 5 and checked online to see if Music or Movies was open because I just knew that POP wouldn't be available. Music and Movies both were available now! :woohoo: Decided to take a leap and check for POP and it was available!! :scared1:

Called in on the phone knowing it was going to be a wait but was willing to do this for the family. After a 30 minute wait on hold and 20 minutes on the phone we were able to switch all 4 of our rooms to POP standard rooms and couldn't have been happier!

So we started yesterday morning with 4 standard rooms at Sports :headache: and ended the day with 4 standard rooms at POP! :cool1:

Definitely keep checking back if you aren't getting what you want! The wait was worth it for us!

Just checked and for our dates they have all room categories for POP available online!

I tried calling in on my drive to work-I even sat on hold with my phone on speaker the entire drive. Unfortunately I had to hang up when I got to work. I then tried to book online-for some reason I couldn't get past the screen where you put the dates in on my work computer :confused3 So then I my last resort-book on my iphone. Yay it worked

I got CSR, standard view 9/28-10/6 and upgraded to DxDP-exactly what I wanted :woohoo:

Last week when the announcement was made about FD I looked for and found a great deal on airfare so I went on and bought the tickets, having faith that the Dis was right and I'd be able to book on Monday. :rolleyes1 DH told me I'd better hope FD came out and I could get CSR for our dates or we'd be spending the week... at the beach :scared1: (We really, really don't like the beach, lol) WHEW! So glad it worked out :rotfl:

I booked with the Disney Visa offer and originally wanted to POP as we have stayed there before. At that time no rooms were available so I went with my 2nd choice PORFQ.

I debated my choice as rooms for the POP have now become available, but I was able to get some awesome advice from here on the boards and have decided to keep my PORFQ ressie.

Although I love the POP, I am looking forward to the more peaceful PORFQ along with all the little upgrades.

I love hearing everyones story! Makes me feel like Im not the only one obsessed with my FD and my resort choice! My DH keeps laughing at me because I keep going on just to see what resorts are available for our week. Im so happy where we are but Im so interested in how peoples choices are playing out and how it affects Disneys resort availabilitie! It seems like monday morning disney had no or very little POP rooms available for FD now there is tons of availability! I wonder if enough people complained and thats why they added some/more. Or maybe they were trying to fill the harder ones to fill first then opened pop figuring some people would just stick with what was first offered and not check back in. What do you guys think?

also just for my inquiring mind, how long can you change your resort? Does it have to be before the promotion is over? Before your 45 day window? Example say I decided to upgrade from POR to WL with FD promo but its after May 18 (thats the last day for booking this promo I think :confused3) but before july 11(my 45 day mark) is this still possible if the rooms are available?I know I can change the resort but will I lose the FD? TIA :goodvibes

I say try something new! We love POP and have stayed there 3 times in a row this time we all agreed although we love POP we wanted to see what else disney has to offer.

I think you made a great choice! We stayed at POFQ for our honeymoon and we LOVED it! It was actually our first choice this time BUT POR was a very close 2nd so we are very happy! Plus we have never stayed at POR so this is all new for us too!!

I was so nervous that we wouldn't get the resort we wanted because I had been reading on the disboards how fast the rooms were filling up. So, I got up at 6:45 Am and called right at 7:00. (For a side note, I work night shift and the early morning hours are not my friend). Anyways, the wait was 45 minutes at this time, so I just sat there and searched the disboards while waiting. Finally, after 1 hour and 5 minutes, a nice CM answered the phone. I was able to book POR king bed with FD upgrade to deluxe for 9/10-9/17. I was so excited that we got the resort we wanted for our honeymoon! It was worth it to sit on hold for that long that early just to get the resort we wanted with free dining!

CONGRATS on your upcoming wedding!!!!! Totally feel ya with the night shift and not like early mornings! It was not fun for me to be up that early but for disney Ill do anything!!! lol!

Orginally booked our vacation in Jan at PoP. Called first thing in morning when free dining opened for visa card holders and like everyone else had to go with sports. We stayed there a few years ago and kids liked it so it was fine with us (even though we like PoP more). Well, after reading the boards about PoP opening up figured i would give it a try. Only sat on hold 5 min this morning and had no problem booking 2 preferred rooms at PoP for our stay in Sept. When i told everyone they were so excited to be going to PoP, it was a nice way to start the day. Now to figure out our dining plans...
