What you use to carry your equipment.

I just use an old boxy Tamrac case, but it seems like it offers more room than a lot of newer ones.

One thing that helps a lot is the Op/Tech SOS strap that I put on it. That plus an Op/Tech Pro Strap on the camera itself meant that I never really got the usual sore neck/sore shoulders that I would have otherwise (carrying two camera bodies, five lenses, and accessories)...

I was looking at this, do you like it? I have a lowepro backpack type camera bag, I do like it but it is heavy. I was reading that the slingback in geared towards digital.

Yes I do like it. It's very comfortable and has plenty of room. The fatc that you can slide it around to your front makes for easy access. I wouldn't say it's geared toward digital it will hold any camera equipment.

Our local camera shop is selling these for about 200.00 is that about right?

some places try to pass fishing or combat vests as photography vests, but I'd avoid them....the vests I have have 2 pockets just for lenses...

So do the vests you use have room for lenses the size of a 70-200 f2.8L IS + lens hood? If so, which pocket would you put it in? I am considering a vest but have never seen one in person.

Thanks in advance!

Just curious what everyone used to carry their camera equipment. Last year I used a small bag that attached to my belt and wore my Canon Rebel on my waist along with the lenses. Only problem was that it got heavy on my waist.
Any suggestions?

I did the same thing for many vacations, and had the same problem. (I may have even started to lean over because of it.) Nowadays, when carrying my DSLR, I either use a messenger style bag (nothing spectacular, just a generic one you could buy at any department store) or what they call a "healthy back bag" from LL Bean. I prefer the LL Bean bag, it has an adjustable strap and I can just sling it over my head and across my chest, carrying the bag in the back. Or just over my shoulder like a purse. Either way works, and I hardly notice the weight.

I'm going to stick to a smaller p&s camera this coming trip, and buy a small case on a strap and wear it the same way. I've been to WDW so many times, I just don't want to worry about the DSLR this time, but have something to capture moments.

If you look at the photo of my vest, there are two pockets on the bottom left, with Gettysburg and Mesa Verde patches on them, that are for lenses. They are not padded pockets, of course, so you may want to just wrap the lenses in some sort of foam sheeting, if you are concerned about them banging around on rides, etc. There are plenty of other pockets for other stuff. I usually carry snacks, water, camcorder, batt's, mem cards, park maps, OTC meds, you name it. My family calls me The Pack Mule.

At DisneyWorld????
Piece o' cake. :)

Everything but the tripod, monopod, and the 400mm lens fit into the Tamrac bag.

Actually, the 400mm was squeezed in once, but never used. That's the "sixth" lens.

That's an intesting little clamp/head over in the upper left hand corner. Who is the manufacture of that?? Looks lighter than the Bogan clamp I use.

The way I see it is I can look like a dork in a vest, or I can look like a dork with a big camera bag, or I can look like a dork... well, you get the idea.

Carrying a bunch of camera gear around a theme park is just gonna' take up a lot of space no matter how we do it. I go for the "messenger bag dork" style since it seems to work better than anything else I have tried.

From another thread, here is a Crumpler $4M Home in action, holding a 70-200 f/4 L, 10-22, filters, CF cards, batteries, monopod, medpack and sunglasses in front, GorillaPod visible on top, and my 24-105 lens hood hanging off the Gorilla's ballhead (the hood gets in the way of the built-in flash).

WOW, that is some serious gear there. Impressive.

Does anyone carry a small notebook to write down notes on the settings used. I have a heavy duty tripod and a light weight one, which one is suggested. I love my heavy duty, because I can attach the quick shoe on it and pop my camera on and off. But it is bulky and takes up space. Any suggestions?
