What you miss when your sick.

I woke up very sore on Friday. I didn't think much of it at the time since I did a lot of cleaning and moving of furniture(really I did ). By Sat night it was hurting worse and I was developing a rash. Not wanting to experience a Sat night at the ER I decided to wait for the morning. When I got to urgent care the next morning I had decided I would rather be in labor then going through this, exp. since I didn't know what I had. The Doc took 1 look at me stepped back(yes she backed away from me!! ) and told me I have shingles. My response was that I'm not old.

Suffice to say this has not been a fun few days but its seems you all have been having a good time without me. My problem with it all was it was easy to just stalk Angel but now I have to stalk everyone including myself.

You're right shingles is no fun. I had it in my 30's-gosh it's so painful!
It's good you're back and can start stalking Angel again Hope you feel better soon.

I saw on the news last night that they have developed a shingles vaccine, and they are recommending it for people 60 and over. You aren't that old, are you?

I'm sorry. I didn't know Shingles was an old person thing. Chris had them in college and another friend had them in her twenties. They're the only two cases I've ever personally known.

I hope it clears up soon. It's no fun.

Yuck, sorry!!! I've known old and young alike to get shingles. As one who hasn't had chicken pox (been vaccinated though) I still think I'll have to look at you from afar just in case

I know that as long as you had chicken pox, you can get shingles... so feel better soon, Beccy

I had shingles on my forehead and head when I was only 28...miserable. It gets so much worse before it gets better! I really feel for you and I am sorry that you haveto go through this. I found that taking Benedryl helped because it let me sleep through a lot of the pain!

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about the shingles(also taking a step back ) I hope you get better quickly. I've heard its quite painful.

So far its only on my back front and 1 spot on my leg. I've been told you can only get it if you rub on someone. Got anyone you don't like?


Dh Tim has never had chicken pox. He did get the CP vaccine but didn't go back for the 2nd one. We find out tomorrow if he is immune or not.

They gave me vicodin for the pain. That made me very sick and took 18 hours to be able to keep anything down. That was a fun time. NOT

I had shingles at the ripe old age of 5 and I still remember the pain involved with them. Of course I was 5 and had never been through labor but they were so sore! My son had them at the ripe old age of 9 and he like me had a really light case of chicken pox and we were both told that we could experience them again anytime, anywhere on any nerve path....can't wait for that NOT!

Beccy, I hope Tim doesn't wind up with them. I remember the joys of getting both the shots. Had to go to this stupid urgent care place since not all the doctors were carrying them on site at the time. After two of my friends got CP in college, I was scared into getting that vaccine! Good thing now, because I have no idea what my doc would've done if I hadn't gotten it. Something about pregnant ladies and chicken pox scares them

I hope the pain dies down for you soon. Were they able to give you something else for the pain that won't make you sick?
