Hi everyone,

Who is cooking for NYE?


So far I have:

Staffed Eggs
Staffed Tomatoes
Oven fried pork with cheese and onion
Possibly turkey
Chocolate Ice cream cake

Please share your ideas.

we buy a Cornish game hen for each of us, and every body prepares their own we bake them up and eat em with veggies, potatoes and what-have you.

I can't figure out what to serve as sides. And - would love any suggestions!!!

We use shrimp that are about 1/2 the size than are shown in the picture. (We just couldn't figure out how to cook the bigger ones without overcooking them.)

Now - if you have any ideas for sides...

We do like an appetizer type buffet. We're having....

Make your own sandwich tray (lunch meat/cheeses/lettuce/tomato/pickles)
Deviled Eggs
Cheese/pepperoni/crackers
Lil Smokies
Stuffed Mushrooms
Chips/Dips
Taco Dip
And a Death by Chocolate dessert

Thanks for link, looks good. Sorry no ideas for sides, except maybe my staffed tomatoes. I do not have link but I can just tell you what I do.

Basically you take middle size tomatoes, 1 per person.
Cut out very top.
Spoon out insides and put somewhere to drain, you do not need extra liquid.
Chop insides.
Add mayo, cheese and garlic to taste.
Put this mix inside tomato and put some cheeseon top.

It tastes pretty fresh and maybe nice with shrimp. It also looks presentable.

This is right up my alley!! We were suppossed to go to our friends ski house but my ds has pneumonia so we will be home. I think we'll get wings, maybe some chili dip, tacos....NYE is for junk food!!!

what are staffed eggs and tomatoes? I've never heard the term staffed, stuffed yes, but not staffed.

We will do appetizer type foods. Chips & dip, salsa, lil smokies, things like that. Unless something really good happens and we can afford to go out. lol

Sides to go with tequila shrimp, how about guac & chips, salsa? Some corn salsa maybe? A fruit salad? A regular salad?

I'm ordering everything for new years eve I cooked for 23 people on Christmas so new years eve is going to be a catered buffet.

We also do appetizer type foods. I usually do a veggie tray, cheese, meat and cracker tray, lil smokies and bbq sauce, shrimp cocktail, chips and dip, those roll up sandwich type things, and whatever other fun things I can find at Sams Club or the grocery store. This year I was thinking I might do a fun chocolate fondue pot with fruit, marshmellows, etc for dessert. Then we give DS sparkling cider and DH and I have some champagne or mimosas.

And of course drinks in the blender. Can't wait! I looove cooking for others.

I'm making LeCellier's Cheddar Cheese soup. I also have a spiral ham and I'll make little ham sandwiches. We are having a few people over so I've asked them to bring finger foods. It won't be a sit down meal. We'll just graze on everything for the evening.

This will be our 6th NYE party at our house..we have about 14 adults and 7 kids!

After hosting 2 large meals Christmas week- cooking for 20 - 25 each time, New Years Eve and day will be just us 4.

New Years Day

chocolate fondue

We will graze NYE. Our New Years Day tradition is a sit down lunch early afternoon and then grazing the fondue for the rest of the day.

We do an app. buffet too. Right now the plan is the following:

Spicy Cheese Dip and Nachos
Winies in a blanket (for kiddies)
Mini Rye Pizzas
Chicken Nachos
Coconut Shrimp w/ pina colada dip



New Years Day the whole family comes over again and it is Pot Roast w/ Mushroom gravy, carrots and potatoes, fresh baked bread, and Chocolate Cream Pie.

I will be so happy when that is over and I don't need to cook again for a big group for a while, too many big meals over such a short time, I am plain worn out.

Most years it is an evening of pure junk food-just us and the kiddos for a wii game night. This year we are supposed to be going to some friends house-whole pig roast-that will be different.

Tha is exactly why I drink Brand Old Fashioned's. There is fruit involved...Vitamin C no less!!!
