What year was the castle cake?

When we were last there in March 1997 the Castle was a cake, ToT was open and AK was not open.

I believe the 25th anniversary was in 1996.. but I can't remember exactly when they changed it into a cake. AK was opened in 1998 and the ToT was opened in 1994.

The official opening of the 25th anniversary castle cake was on October 1, 1996. But if you went in the summer of 1996 (as we did) you would have seen the castle part gray and part pink with scaffolding all around. It stayed pink until late 1997.

TZTOT opened on July 22, 1994. Major drop sequence changes were made in May 1996, March 1999, and December 2002. (From towerofterror.org website--link below).

I have to agree I didnt like the pink castle either. I have pictures and when I look at them I think what were they on.....that was the worst.

OH MY GOODNESS that is UGLY!

Let me tell you, if I were somebody on a WDW vacation, maybe for the last or only time, I'd have been MAD if I got there and the castle looked like that. Wow.

We were married at WDW in November 1996. I'm glad we didn't spend the big bucks to get married in front of the castle. I've seen some beautiful castle weddding pictures, but can you imagine that!
