Say a tornado was heading for your house, and you only had enough time to grab a few things, what would they be?

I would grab...

A stuffed animal I've had sence I was like, 5. (High sentimental value)
My baby blanket. (High sentimental value)
My Cell Phone. (Will be useful when it's all over)
My iPod and headphones. (Mixture of high sentimental, and money value)

Ipod
Nintendo DS
Stereo
Computer
Pen
Paper

ME of course!
I don't think you could carry all of that.

well, considering its happened to me a few times, i took nothing because in that sort of situation, we dont think it would be appropriate to be running around your house looking for stuff while a tornadoe is coming toward your home. But, needless to say, i would just forget about all my sentimental things and take my cell and ipod. :)

I so could carry that all! If I can carry a 10L jug of water up 13 stairs I can carry anything.

My stuffed doll from when I was less then a year old (sentimental value)
My laptop
My cell phone
My iPod

I'd have to run fast, but I think I could grab it all :)

That's not what I meant.

A jug of water is one thing. You would be trying to carry like, six. Not to mention, the computer will take two hands if it's a desktop, the stereo will take two hands depending on how big it is. Your going to need either pockets or more hands for your DS, iPod, Pen and Paper.

Not to mention that you have to take in consideration the time it will take to unplug your computer and stereo. Plus what would the point be of taking the computer and stereo anyway. Unless they run on battaries, they will be next to useless when your house is leveled. And you could probably just find some paper and a pen when it's over. :confused3

:woohoo: Well if we are getting all techincal right now than why not:

I would place the stereo on a moving device preferably, a trolly or a shopping cart. Techincally, speaking I could walk down to Zehrs get a shopping cart and carry it back to my house. Please the devices inside the shopping cart and BOOM done.

I am smart, but only when I want to be.

If a tornado is coming to your house your not going to have time to run to the store, grab a shopping car, run back, grab your stuff, put it in the cart, then run to safety.

I grew up in the middle of tornado alley, so tornados are not new to me. When the sirens went off, we all headed straight for the middle of our hallway, shut all the doors, and seldom had time to think about grabbing anything. Also, though, we were fortunate enough to never be in any true danger. We were never at the point where we knew there was a tornado heading straight for our house. If we were ever at that point, we would probably be grabbing mattresses to put over our heads. So, now, to get to answering the question...if I saw a tornado headed for my house, I would grab 1) portable radio for weather updates, 2) flashlight, 3)matress(es) and/or blankets as mentioned before, 3) my baby blanket that my Grandma made me, 4) my scriptures b/c they give me strength and inspiration, 5) a doll I've had since I was 6, 6) at least one of my journals, and 7) I'd try to grab at least our family picture, then I'd run like heck to the shelter area!! That may sound like quite a bit, but most of it is in my room right in reach.
