Our trip is fast approaching and I need some advice.
It will be just myself and my 2 Granddaughters 7 & 11
They both love Tower or Terror and are looking forward to riding it again.
I am terrified of heights but made myself go on it with them 2 years ago so they could try it. I did not like it and really do not want to ride it again.
It took most of my courage the last time.
I am not comfortable having them ride alone.
So do I

1. Just explain that there is so much else to do that we skip it.

2. At that age do you think it is ok to ride alone if they decide they want to on this ride.

3. Just go on the ride with them and close my eyes and hold my breath.

Suggestions are appreciated

The Things Nana's will do for their Grand Children!

I think I would do the line with them and tell the CM you are departing before entering the elevator. They should direct you to the ride exit to retrieve the kids.

I was going to say the same thing, you can enter the attraction with them and just tell the loading CM you do not with to ride and would like to meet them when they depart. I think you meet them just as they enter the gift shop, if I remember right.

I'd ride it with them. This ride really shouldn't invoke your fear of heights. Enjoy the whole experience, basement pipes, boilers, and all. It's really quite an experience.

I have a fear of heights myself, but the Tower has no real feeling of being on the edge. Rides that really get my fear of heights going are ferris wheels and cable-car type rides, but since there aren't either of those anywhere on Disney property, I have no problems at Walt Disney World.

Enjoy.

That was going to be my suggestion too! I do think that they are old enough to ride alone as long as you stay w/ them until they board the elevator. DON'T go on it again if you don't want to. I forced myself to ride it in Aug & I'll never ride it again!

I am with the group who suggest stand in line with the kids and then wait at the exit. I am a big ride wimp and do this on a regular basis with my son.

I wouldn't see any problem with the wait in line and let the kids ride alone. It will give you time to visit with the people who will be riding with the kids. That way, they wouldn't be riding with complete strangers. I've met a lot of nice people waiting in line.

Here's what I just did with my kids. I brought along a walkie talkie set. Mainly because my son would be the only boy and I wanted him to be able to contact me in the bathroom. I wasn't sure if they would work out but you know what? Worked great!! :thumbsup2 Not only for the bathrooms but this trip I develped motion sickness!! Can you believe it? So I couldn't ride ToT over and over or RnR. So the kids would get on with walkie talkie and keep me updated on their progress. My DS11 was really good at it "mom we're in line, over" "mom we're getting on the ride, over". I'd wait at the exit and we'd have an emergency meeting spot if for some reason I wasn't there. They also knew how to approach a CM. This system worked out really well for us and I think your 11 yo should be able to keep track of her sister for a short time.

Have fun!!

Thanks for all the suggestions.
You have helped me decide.
I think staying in line with them to the elevator and then not getting on will work great. I think this will work for them too.
Thanks so much!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

They have a chicken door on TOT just for this situation. Stay in the line, go out the door, and meet them in the gift shop.

I think they are old enough to ride alone, or you could wait in line either way there is a nice place to wait right outside the gift shop with benches and shade.

I agree with everyone else about staying in line till the chicken exit which is in the boiler room. There's only one way out of the ride so you will definitely see them when they come out. That would be the best and you'd only be separated for a very short time.

When I was little my aunt was too scared to go on the Materhorn (spelling?) with me at Disneyland so she asked a CM to ride with me. :)
