I've gotten quotes for POR and the all star one with the family suite. There was a little over $1000 difference. This will be our first trip to disney as a family. Never thought it would happen since we own a business and never thought DH would close to go anywhere. Of course we have to go over Christmas since he is closed anyway. We currently have a family suite booked at Nickelodeon hotel but the more I looked at it and read about it I'm not saving anything by staying there versus Disney withthe dining plan if I stay at POR but is that a big enough room for a family of 5. My DH is a big guy and my kids are 8, 7,and 6.

TIA

First of all, Welcome to the Dis!:cheer2: :dance3:  this is your first of many, many posts! I would say that you'd be fine with POR --the six year old can sleep on the trundle bed. Just remember that the beds are double beds, not queen size, so if hubby needs way more space, you'll need to consider that also. POR is a lovely place, your kids will have a ball. If you're trying to save money, go for it. Other options are the Fort Wilderness cabins which are like a house with a full kitchen; and Contemporary Resort garden wing rooms. HUGE rooms with queen size beds, and much cheaper than staying in the tower. Please let us know what you decide. I'm assuming you're on the dining plan, too. what fun! don't forget to make your advance dining reservations.

The suites at ASMu has 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette. It would be very tight with a family of 5 at POR. The cabins are another option, but you'd only have 1 bathroom. You might be able to get a code and do 2 rooms at a value. You wouldn't have the fridge and microwave. Some DVC's will let you have 5 in a 1 bedroom. That can be a good way to go, because you'd also have access to a washer and dryer as well as a full kitchen. It is possible to rent points from DVC members.

Well thanks everyone we decided to book 2 rooms at the Pop instead. Only a tad more money, Like $150 more, then POR. They said they would give us connecting rooms. Our DD has PDD and needs to be with both mommy and daddy so they put a note in our reservations so crossing fingers that we get it!

Thanks everyone now I am even more excited!
