what would you recommend

We are hoping for an IllumiNations cruise in mid-January. Before the cruise we will be at MGM (which will probably close at 7:00)

What would recommend for a place to eat for dinner? We have two children (5,7) so waiting until after is not really an option.

Also, How long will it take to drive (rental car) from MGM to the Yacht Club (that is where we park, correct?)

You all might enjoy Sci-Fi Drive-in ... it's a fun place to eat while waiting clips of really old "B" movies. Nothing scary though.

The Disney/MGM Studios are fairly close to the Yacht Club -- the drive wouldn't be more than 5 mins. maybe 10 if you get stuck in traffic. I'd plan to leave before the crowds exit so you can get a head start out. Once at the Yacht Club you could spend some time wandering around before your cruise.

The past couple of years my wife and I have stayed at Y&B and have walked back from MGM. There is a pathway connecting MGM & the Boardwalk and then from there it is a quick walk around from there to Yacht Club. It is about a mile walk if there are not any health issues or the kids are just to tired that would preclude you from walking but if not it is a very pleasant walk after a wonderful day at MGM.

I'd suggest leaving MGM a little early, driving over to Beach Club and have dinner at Beaches & Cream. You would then have a short stroll to the dock to catch your Illuminations Cruise.
