This is my first post ever! I just discovered the boards! Yea-me!

Our trip in October will be our first ever to Disney World. :woohoo: DH is looking forward to this almost as much as I am. DS is 2yrs and DD is 4yrs. We will be on the Deluxe Dining Plan and I have already made reservations at these places. If you have been to any of them, please give suggestions on what to order for an appetizer, entree and dessert. I'm reading as many threads as I can but I still don't know good from bad.

Le Cellier
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Flying Fish
Chefs de France
Marrakesh
California Grill
Jiko
Raglan Road
Sci-Fi Drive-in
Rose & Crown
Yak & Yeti
Narcoossee's

Le Cellier Filet with the mushroom risotto, caesar salad

Yachtsman Steakhouse Lobster bisque soup, filet with bernaise sauce (pics in my April link)

Chefs de France Bacon and creme fresh flatbread and the mac and cheese French style! (pics in my April link)

Marrakesh We are trying this place for the first time this Sat and DH wants to get the lemon chicken and I want to get the steak couscous

Jiko We are going here for the first time on my b-day in Oct. I plan on getting the much talked about filet with mac and cheese in a red wine sauce

Yak & Yeti I love love love the ribs although DH's dish of steak and fried shrimp was to die for! (pics in my April linkl)

at Le Cellier try the cheddar cheese soup and prime rib with the cream cheese mashed potatoes.....very good..

Marrakesh we had a platter with lamb and chicken with cous cous and hummus .delicious too...

The only one of these we haven't eaten at is Y&Y - I like what PP have suggested - I'll add a couple - Fish & Chips at R&C and at Chefs de, appetizer -- Escargot is truly amazing! Filet at Jikos is incredible too.

WELCOME:cheer2:
Your family will have a grand time with the Deluxe DDP. Having said, the DDP could be challenging for first timer.
Here's some recommendations for the restaurants where we ate in July:

Le Cellier.....Cheese soup, mushroom filet, maple creme brulee
Yachtsman Steakhouse...have not eaten there yet
Flying Fish.....crab cake, red snapper, sorbets
Chefs de France....french onion soup, braised beef rib, fruit salad in tea thingy
Marrakesh....ate there in 2007, forgot what we had, sorry!
California Grill....everything is so good, ate there twice last month.
Jiko....haven't been there yet
Raglan Road....Scallop forrest, sherpards pie, bread pudding
Sci-Fi Drive-in...onion rings, angus burger, nothing for dessert(too full)
Rose & Crown...leek soup, fish and chip, toffee pudding
Yak & Yeti...lettuce wrap, baby back rib, fried wonton
Narcoossee's...crab cake, whole steamed Maine lobster, cheesecake(yum)

There are some of the dishes we ate. Maybe other Dis'ers have tried other delicious things from the same restaurants too.

Thank you! Thank you!

It was hard to convince DH to do the dining plan. He thought it would be better to pay everything on the spot. But I wanted to try some of the nicer places and I told him we could save money by doing so. I'm sure we will, and your suggestions will make me look like I knew what I was talking about. ;)

Please keep the recommendations coming!

The ones I've been to, I'd order:

Le Cellier - Sauteed Prince Edward Island Mussels and Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon.

Flying Fish - Crispy Sesame and Togarashi-scented Calamari (Best calamari anywhere) and either the Potato-Wrapped Red Snapper or the Char Crusted New York Strip Steak.

Chefs de France - either the Cassolette d'escargots or the Soupe a l'oignon gratinee, entree would be the Roasted breast of duck and leg confit.

California Grill - Sushi for appetizer and Seared Jumbo Day Boat Scallops.

JIKO - Lamb "Patis" or Barbecued Chicken Flatbread appetizers and the Kenyan Coffee BBQ-Braised Beef Short Rib entree.

The only one on your list that I am doing is Le Cellier. I am really looking forward to the cheddar cheese soup and mushroom filet. I LOVE mushrooms though.:goodvibes

We are doing Lecellier again this year (yummy)
Yachtsman first time this year
Narcoossee first time this year.
What no Character dining with 2 little ones?????

Thanks for asking! We are doing character dining as well and the kids are looking forward to those the most, of course. We're doing:

Ohana
Crystal Palace
Liberty Tree Tavern

Since they have set menus, I didn't think to ask anyone for suggestions.

I have only eaten at Sci-fi, Le Cellier, and Marrakesh. The only thing that I have ever liked a Le Cellier is the bread and sorbet for dessert. I am in the minority but I can not stand that restaurant, but I also don't eat beef or pork so my options are limited. Sci-fi we had something that's not even on the menu, but it wasn't my favorite. Marrakesh is a must do for us every trip (it took me years to convince my husband to go there and now he loves it more than I do.) Our favorite things to order there is the seafood bastilla, sultan sampler and the bastilla for dessert. We get the sultan sampler because it includes all of our favorite things at the restaurant. With toddlers, I would suggest going to Play and Dine at Hollywood studios for lunch. It's loud, but the character interaction is wonderful and the food (when we were there in April) was the best out of all of the character meals we went to. Good luck and have fun!

At Marrakesh, can you order the sultan sampler on the DDP as your entree? I keep reading about restrictions and how they differ from place to place.

Welcome to the DIS! I have eaten at some of these, and one of them is new, so I'll tell you what I have ordered and what I will order.

Le Cellier - The fillet - it's really good! The cheese soup and the duck appetizer are also really tasty.
Raglan Road - The bangers and mash, the sausages on sticks appetizer for two, and the shepherds pie are all very good.
Rose & Crown - Do not try the lamb. It was nasty! The fish and chips are really excellent though.
Yak & Yeti - Based on allears.net reviews, I'm going with the duck and the mango pie for dessert.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes
