What would you like to see at the Disney Deluxe resorts?

Another vote for wi-fi, or high speed access in-room. Sure, we're on vacation, but at 11pm I like to check the news of the world, and any online order$ I may have received while playing in the parks, so I will know how much extra I can spend in the parks the next day

thanks all of you this is a great post. We are staying at the AKL, and I was wondering if I could still get a newspaper with coffee in the morning....
just one question though, did you stay in a standard room, or was it concierge?

We stayed in a Savannah View room, not concierge. I seem to remember reading somewhere that everybody at the AKL got a daily newspaper - I just assumed that all Deluxes did the same thing. It is nice to be able to check the boxscores while your wife gets herself ready.

I would love to see some type of whirpool/jacuzzi tubs. Also Wi-Fi would be a nice add on.

Stay in a 1 bedroom or larger at OKW, SSR or BWV and you will get both. The high speed internet comes at a price - $9.95 per day. I used dial-up, although it was slow it did what I needed it for (check e-mail, some surfing), 35 cents per local call (DVC member rate).

How about front of the line access like the hotel guests at Universal hotels have. Keep in mind, the OP only asked what we would like to see at Disney deluxes! Oh how nice it is not to wait in line at Universal!

Clean crisp sheets everyday, clean bedspread with each new guest. Bigger coffee pot with premium coffee. Bigger refrigerator.

Actually I think an adults only resort would be great (and have a big demand for it). I don't think I'd ever stay there, because I'd kind of miss having the kids around, but I bet there are lots of people who'd like a real escape from kids at the parks.

I think there's probably just no demand for it. I'm a big TV watcher - I have the Dish, I have Tivo, and I watch entirely too much TV. During my last stay in WDW, the TV didn't even get turned on once a day - there's just no time for it. When we hung out at the resort, we were either at the pool, wandering the grounds, or on our balcony.

I am only commenting on the Polynesian, referring to the trip which we just got back from, again, restricted access to the pool area, mainly volcano pool. I get more hassle from a Hilton hotel, have to show room key, sign in etc, to use their pool than the nonchalant attitude at the Polynesian and also beach access for fireworks, especially when my dh couldnt find any chairs and had to haul some in from a distance away. I cant believe all those people were actually Polynesian resort guests. I cant justify paying anything more than a garden view rate, or the cheapest rate for a deluxe and now I am happy I got the ap rate for our last stay because honestly I don't feel like we get our moneys worth for what they charge for a disney deluxe. You can get a better deal at the swan or dolphin. The swan is always my disney alternative now.

In our suite at the Swan last year we had a minibar and in room movies so I know they are offered there.

Maybe one hotel with the aquarium idea, and a few others, to fit Future World; and another hotel for World Showcase, with each floor themed to represent a different country.

I think a World Showcase hotel would be GREAT!.....with Ameircan Luxuries though!

Probably. However in the middle of the day when it is hot, or you just need a break from the crowds it would be nice to kick back in your room to relax and watch a movie. I was at Disney during Hurricane Charlie and I've also been under the weather on several trips so I was forced to stay in my room. I would have killed for something else to watch other than their local cable. Makes me appreciate my cable at home much more.

For those of you who want a mini-bar - Try the Swan/Dolphin - they have a mini-bar. They also have a new restaurant with an adult only area.

It would be cool to have a hotel at WDW have exclusive back door access to a park like the GC in CA.
It would also be cool if all the rooms at WDW had beds like the ones at the Swan. Not that the beds are bad...but those ones were amazing!
While I'm happy just have a fridge in the room, they definintely could be a little larger.


I don't know for certain if the resorts currently offer laundry service (I think they do) but they have had it in the past. It was a bit expensive. It would be great if they offered it at a reasonable price. If they had cheaper laundry service, I could bring less luggage, which would mean less luggage for their new transfer service to handle!

I wish the resorts offered more room service after 11pm. We returned to our room after EMH hungry, and there was little food to be had. Even the eateries at the parks were mostly closed durig the EMH! This is clearly an area where Disney is losing money!!

I wish they would build a small resort, for adults only, and no one could even get through the gates without a confirmed room or dining reservation to keep it intimate. Under 300 rooms, top-notch service, all rooms are CL.

An elegant dining option as well as a casual place, and a small counter service place WITHOUT VIDEO GAMES BLARING!

The rooms would have amenities such as Frette linens, plush terry robes, CD players, and jetted soaking tubs. There would be a minifridge stocked with water, soda, and juice which would be replenished daily. They would offer complimentary coffee/tea service delivered to your room within five minutes of you calling any time of the day or night. 24 hour room service.

All rooms would have a balcony large enough for a chaise lounge as well as a table high enough to eat from and chairs.

I know, someone pinch me, I'm dreaming again...

The Yatch Club/Beach Club is the only Deluxe we ahve stayed in so I assumed they were all alike. I called Disney but she couldn;t teel me if they refilled the mugs at the new marketplace. Since it's part of the olf gift shop I don't know. I sure wish they would change that one thing. Otherwise it's great.

They do have internet access in the lobby.

We refilled ours in the morning at the place where they have muffins/ etc available. At the BC it used to be next to the Cape May restaurant. At the YC it was in the bar area next to the YC Galley. At the YC we were also able to refill it at the bar area all day.

It's actually more or less what you get on the CR 14th Floor, except for the high end linens. I don't think it would be prohibitive for guests looking for that type of experience.
