What would you have done?

For those who know someone who recently got Covid do you know if they already had Covid within the last 1.5 years? Are we getting Omicron reinfections? That would be a serious bummer...

Guess you missed Biden saying "pandemic of the unvaccinated" too. This whole speech is riddled with misinformation. Maybe that's why us unvaccinated folks can get a little touchy about the subjects of covid shots and mandates. We were essentially bullied by our Government for not getting vaccinated under the guise that the covid shots stopped the spread (which we now know it doesn't). I know more people that have had adverse serious long-term reactions to the shots than covid itself. It is real and the shots should never have been forced on anyone. It will be interesting to see the percentage of people that actually get the updated booster. Bivalent booster uptake was only 20%.
Yup. Probably did. As I said earlier, I try to avoid the news.
None of it was ever about preventing the spread.
What was it about? What was the end game?

Actually you know what? Don't bother. I think we're getting too close to politics.

I will say this, whether I agree/don't agree on masks, vaccinations, boosters, 2 weeks, whatever, I *DO* feel business (and that includes the government) CAN enforce whatever mandates for their employees and customers (obviously assuming it doesn't violate a person's rights, and no, you do NOT have the right to shop/do business with anyone if they don't want you).

Now you’re getting off on a whole nether tangent.

Covid will never be eradicated completely and it will continue to evolve into new strains - it's been 3 years, you would have thought we'd learn to adapt by now. I've had enough of fearmongering from the media because let's face it, we can do everything to be cautious but aside from 100% isolation (No thank you), you can still get it anywhere, at any time. The whole ruse is that we have 100% control of our environment.

The masking was over the top in California (I live in SoCal). I'm "immunocompromised' because I have RA and take immunosuppressants otherwise I can't move because my joints sucks. I'm not that concerned about getting sick other than it being an inconvenience. I was vaccinated at the suggestion of my doctors but got covid anyway in 2021 and was okay within 10 days, with no long term effects. haven't really gotten sick other than that.

More than masking, I think people staying home when they are sick is effective. Whether it's flu, covid, strep etc - just stay home and rest.

Interesting, most people I know got vaccinated, not one had adverse reactions. I do know folks bring treated for long term Covid though.

There’s a small percentage of people that will get every booster offered. Most of against the vaccine were bullied on every social media site. Guess what we were right as I knew we would be.

The cdc flip flopped on masks over and over. They knew darn well that a homemade mask or even a surgical mask that’s moist does absolutely nothing. Even a N95 should be changed out after 15 minutes of talking. None of it was ever about preventing the spread.
I don’t know why you think you were right, I’m grateful vaccines helped slow the spread, it was an absolute poop show here before vaccine. Most people I know get boosters as well.

Measles are imaginary?
Measles are real and if enough people don't get vaccinated they will spread - and you really don't want measles.
However,
Unlike the COVID vaccines, if you get a measles vaccine you really won't get it. Not "lesser symptoms" as we are told with the COVID shot, you won't get it period. FWIW, I'm not against the COVID vaccines, or even the Flu shot. I get the flu shot every year and I have been getting the COVID vaccines, but not sure I will going forward. That's a personal decision IMHO. You'll get no judgement from me either way.

How is requiring masks for the public different than "no shirt, no shoes, no service"?
The hospital is required to treat patients regardless… it cannot refuse. There’s signs all over the building saying so. It’s the visitors that’s a different story but that remains to be seen.

I got the aches/pains, intense fatigue and chills and I do not wish that upon anyone. I never knew just how bad severe chills were until I had Covid.
I had the same experience when I had covid a year ago. Those chills were no joke. The whole bed shook with me. I had all the symptoms you listed with the addition of the worst 48 hour migraine I’ve ever had.

My husband had it worse than me. He ended up with bronchitis and took much longer to heal.

We obviously never want to feel that way again but we are out in the world traveling, etc. Just keeping our fingers crossed for a milder case next time around.

Love this (except for your personal situation - sorry to hear that). How about we stop giving out "perfect attendance" awards at schools? Back when I was a kid, "rub some dirt on it and get back out there" was the norm, and in fact saluted. I think we can all agree now though, encouraging a kid to go to school regardless or lose out on an award is a very out-dated concept.

All of that is anecdotal though. I know 1 person that died with a high suspicion of being related to the vaccine. I also know 1 person that has had long term health issues that appear to be directly related to the 2nd Covid shot. The incidence of myocarditis in young men/boys is fairly well documented. I’m still very pro vaccine but this whole experience has made me more wary than I ever thought I would be about vaccinations.

I had bronchitis this past April (unrelated to Covid) and that was misery too. My chest hurt so badly from the all the coughing I did.

I'm still going out places and I don't want to go back to 100% isolation. I think we can all agree that it didn't exactly help everyone's mental health. I WFH but still go out to restaurants, stores and even vacations. I'll get the next booster in September and hope for the best.

You are lucky. And, any virus has the ability to have long-term effects (Flu being another one) vaccinated or not.
My husband had 3 coworkers die within 2 weeks of being vaccinated. All healthy middle aged men. All died from sudden cardiac arrest. Coincidence maybe or may not. Anyone can go to VAERS and see the adverse reactions.

I don't trust CDC stats. They admitted to not releasing information for fear that the public wouldn't "interpret" it correctly. That's ok, there were other places to get the info they didn't want us to know. Anyway, it's interesting that anecdotally the vaccinated people I know keep getting covid over and over where the naturally immune unvaccinated people I know have gotten it once or twice.
